Asus launches Zenfone Zoom S – Dual cameras, Massive Battery and More at Rs. 26,999

Asus, the Taiwanese company launched a brand new phone in the Zenfone 3 series – the Zenfone Zoom S. The phone made a global launch under the name Zenfone 3 Zoom and has come to India with an ‘S’ suffix. The phone will come in two colour variants – two colour options — navy black and glacier silver. Both variants will be available exclusively through Flipkart.

The unique selling point for this device is its dual camera setup and the 5000mAh battery pack. In the camera setup, the smartphone packs two 12MP cameras with 2.3x true optical zoom and up to 12x total zoom. What this means is that the device can offer lossless zoom for up to 2.3x and will still be capable of 12x zoom with little loss in detail. This optical zoom is greater than the iPhone 7 Plus which features a 2x zoom. The primary 12MP sensor is one from Sony, having a 25mm wide-angle with f/1.7 aperture. The second camera is a 59mm zoom dedicated sensor. According to Asus which claims, “This setup ensures sharp focus on subjects at any distance.”The second attractive feature to this device is its large battery pack which measures at a whopping 5000mAh! This battery is capable of an outstanding 42 days of standby time. Together with this, the phone is capable of capturing up to 6.4 hours of continuous 4K UHD video recording as well. This is all possible thanks to not only the mammoth sized battery but also due to the battery-efficient 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor present under the hood. The battery capacity of this device also permits you to share some of its power with other electronics that you possess owing to its reverse charging capabilities.

In terms of design, the smartphone from Asus features a premium build featuring a full-metal build measuring at just 7.9mm of thickness, making it the world’s thinnest phone with a battery this big. Not only that but the device is also relatively light-weight at just 170 grams. On the rear, together with its impressive set of cameras, sits a fingerprint sensor that ensures quick access to the device and functional features like recognizing your fingerprint to quickly answer calls. On the display front, the Zenfone 3 Zoom S rocks a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED panel that can reproduce colours accurately. To ensure this display panel steers clear from scratches and dings, Asus has also coupled the display panel with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. In terms of software, the offering from Asus will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box running ZenUI 3.0. The device is expected to see an over-the-air update to Android 7.0 Nougat in the near future.
