Asus, the Taiwanese brand is looking to release a phone for people with a tight budget. The upcoming smartphone has been spotted on Geekbench bearing a model number X00RD. The company has already sent out invites about its press event that will be held at MWC. The brand is expected to launch its flagship Zenfone 5 series phones at the event. Alongside the flagship devices, Asus could launch a budget offering as well.
The X00RD, as per the Geekbench listing, the phone will run on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. In addition to this, the phone will come with just 1GB of RAM. Talking about its processor, the device will be powered by the Snapdragon 425 processor which is a low power processor. The processor also clocked a score of 640 points in the single-core test and 1,664 in the multi-core test. The processor is built on a 28nm process, so it is expected to be efficient, but not as much as a higher variant.
With respect to efficiency, the phone should be able to get you through a day with light to moderate usage considering the processor can only support a display having a maximum resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels.
That being said, there has been no official word regarding this phone being an Android Go device, but looking at its specifications so far and comparing it with Android Oreo, we can conclude so. Asus has not shared any official statements regarding it working on an Android Oreo Go device but it sure would be exciting to see one.
