ASUS ROG Phone 2 with Snapdragon 855 Plus launched in China: Price, Specifications

ASUS has announced the successor to last year’s ROG Phone in China today. The ASUS ROG Phone 2 sports a glossy rear panel, dual rear cameras, in-display fingerprint sensor and Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor.

ASUS ROG Phone 2: Specifications and features

The phone features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and HDR 10. It has a refresh rate of 120Hz which is an upgrade over its predecessor’s 90Hz refresh rate.  For performance, the ASUS ROG Phone 2 is the first device to rely on Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor. The graphics are handled by an Adreno 640 GPU while the phone comes in two variants – 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 12GB RAM + 512GB storage.

The phone plays host to a 48MP IMX586 primary sensor coupled with a 13MP super wide-angle lens with Dual LED Flash. On the front, the ASUS ROG Phone 2 features a 24MP snapper. The device is also the first-ever to feature a dual vibrating motor for better haptic feedback. Furthermore, it depends on a 6,000mAh battery unit with support for 30W Fast Charging, Quick Charge 4+ and USB Type-C. It has stereo front-facing speakers with DTS:X 7.1 surround sound and a smart amplifier as well. GameCool II, a liquid cooling system is also included in the package while a customisable Aura logo marks its presence on the back.

ASUS has also introduced an array of accessories for the phone. They include Nintendo Switch Joy-Con like controllers that fit on either side of the phone, an AeroActive Cooler II fan accessory, controller pad and dual-screen accessory. There is also a Switch like docking station through which users can connect the phone to their TVs.

ASUS ROG Phone 2: Price and availability

The ASUS ROG Phone 2 has been launched in multiple variants including a Tencent Elite version, Classic Version, Extreme Edition and E-Sports Armor Edition. The first and second versions come with 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 12GB RAM + 512GB storage, respectively. For the Extreme Edition, we have no official confirmation about the configuration and it will be available in the fourth quarter of this year for buying. The e-Sports Armor edition comes in a custom briefcase with a 30W charger which users would have to buy separately for the base model.

The four versions are priced at 3,499 Yuan (~Rs 35,000), 5,999 Yuan (~Rs 60,000), 7,999 Yuan (~Rs 80,000) and 12,999 Yuan (Rs 1,30,000), respectively. Right now, people can pre-order the Tencent Elite version and Classic version of the phone till July 30th. They will go on sale from July 31st.
