ASUS is all set to launch its next-generation ROG Phone 3 in India on July 22nd. The smartphone has already been listed and teased on e-commerce website Flipkart. Ahead of the launch, we’ve got our hands on official images of a few ROG Phone 3 accessories, via tipster Ishan Agarwal.
ASUS had launched several optional accessories with last year’s ROG Phone 2. The images of the accessories we’ve obtained look to be upgraded versions for the ROG Phone 3, and include a TwinView Dock, Kunai Gamepad, AeroActive Cooler and Lightning Armor Case.
ASUS ROG Phone 3 accessories: Kunai Gamepad, TwinView Dock, AeroActive Cooler and Lightning Armor Case
Starting with the Kunai Gamepad, the version for the ROG Phone 3 seems to feature a textured matte finish and repositioned joysticks and buttons. This time around, the buttons on the central holder have been moved to the left and right controllers, leaving it bare except for a large ASUS ROG logo.
As seen in the image above, the Kunai Gamepad can be used in three modes. The first mode lets you attach it to the phone via what we presume is a bumper case, enabling physical controls when gaming on the phone. The other two modes are both standalone gamepads, with the main difference being that one has a grip, while the other doesn’t.
Coming to the TwinView Dock, the dual screen accessory seems to feature the same design as last year’s model, with a secondary display on top and a holder for the ROG Phone 3 at the bottom, complete with an RGB lighting strip. We can see the physical buttons on the secondary display, and an air vent and 3.5mm audio jack on holder. While we don’t have the exact specs, we know that the Twin Dock II featured a 120Hz/1ms secondary screen and a 5,000mAh battery, so we can expect the new dock to feature some upgrades.
As for the AeroActive Cooler, it seems to have similar form factor as the AeroActive Cooler II from last year, but with different vent design and additional ROG branding on the top. It retains the USB Type-C and 3.5mm jack at the bottom. The clip-on fan directs the air output towards the ROG Phone’s vent for an effective thermal check.
Lastly, the Lighting Armor case has received a design overhaul this year. While it seems to support Aura lighting like the original Lighting Armor case, the LEDs are arrayed in an 8-bit style. The case also has a triangular cutout on the side for the Aerodynamic cooler vent to be effective even with the case on.
That’s all we know about the gaming accessories for the ROG Phone 3. With the phone launching tomorrow, we won’t have to wait long for all the official details.
