ASUS ROG Phone 5, ROG Phone 5 Pro, and ROG Phone 5 Ultimate gaming smartphones have launched in India. The Phone 5 series smartphones has arrived as the successor to last year’s ROG Phone 3.

The ASUS ROG Phone 5 models are all powered by the Snapdragon 888, which is the most powerful mobile chipset available. It is the first phone to arrive in India with up to 18GB of RAM. Compared to the last year’s model, the ROG Phone 5 offers with a larger screen that supports a 144Hz display. It is backed by a huge battery that carries fast charging capabilities.

The ASUS ROG Phone 5, ROG Phone 5 Pro, and ROG Phone 5 Ultimate gaming smartphones have launched in India

The ASUS ROG Phone 5 comes in two options such as 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. It comes in Phantom Black and Storm White (both glossy) colours. The ROG Phone 5 Pro is packed with 16GB of RAM and 512GB storage and it comes in a single Phantom Black (glossy) colour.

The ROG Phone 5 Ultimate is a limited-edition model that features 18GB of RAM and 51GB of storage. It comes in Storm White (matte) colour only.

The ROG Phone 5 accessories such as Lighting Armor case, Kunai 3 Gamepad, AeroActive Cooler 5, and ROG Cetra II core headset are priced at Rs 2,999, Rs 9,999, Rs 2,999, and Rs 4,599, respectively.

The ASUS ROG Phone 5’s first sale will be carried out at 12 PM on April 15th. It will be available for purchase through Flipkart.

The ASUS ROG Phone 5 series features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, a 300Hz touch sampling rate, 111 percent DCI-P3 color gamut, 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 800nits brightness, Always-on Display, HDR10+ support, and an in-screen fingerprint reader.

The display is safeguarded by 2.5D Gorilla Glass Victus and it also features AS coating for reducing friction when the hand sweats while holding. The display is powered by an i6 processor, which intelligently adjusts brightness, sharpness, and color temperature. The back panel of the ROG Phone 5 trio is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

The Snapdragon 888 mobile platform powers the ROG Phone 5, ROG Phone 5 Pro, and ROG Phone 5 Ultimate with up to 18GB of LPPDR5 RAM and 51GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The handset runs on Android 11 OS and it lets users select between gaming-friendly ROG UI or stock-like Zen UI. All three phones are backed by dual 3,000mAh batteries (6,000mAh total typical value) and they come with support for 30W fast charging. The internal GameCool 4 internal cooling system can effectively reduce the phone’s temperature by up to 15°C.

For gamers, the ROG Phone 5, ROG Phone 5 Pro, and ROG Phone 5 Ultimate are equipped with Air Trigger 5 control system that offers users highly accurate ultrasonic touch-sensitive shoulder buttons for gaming. The ROG Phone 5 Pro and Ultimate are fitted with two extra capacitive sensors on the back panel. By attaching the AeroActive Cooler 5, users can get two more physical buttons.

The ASUS ROG Phone 5 Pro has a dot-matrix PMOLED display called ROG Vision that can display customisable graphics for incoming alerts for messages/calls, loading a game, charging, entering X mode, and so on. The ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate has a monochrome PMOLED display that offers the same functions. On the other hand, the ROG Phone 5 for RGB lighting aesthetics on its back.

The ROG Phone 5 trio has a 24-megapixel front camera. The back panel of all three phones has a horizontal camera module that comprises a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 primary camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens with 125-degree FOV, and a 5-megapixel macro lens. The rear cameras support EIS, up to 8K video shooting at 30fps, 4K timelapse video shooting, and 4K slow-motion video recording at 120fps.

The ROG Phone 5 series is equipped with other features such as quad microphones with OZO Noise reduction technology, ESS Sabre ES0290AC Pro with HyperStream quad-DAC, dual 7-magnet linear front-firing speakers, Hi-Res Audio support, dual SIM support, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, 2x MIMO, Bluetooth 5.2, dual-frequency GPS, and a side-mounted USB Type-C. The latter can be used for connecting bundled clip-on AeroActive Cooler 5 cooling fan (only with ROG Phone 5 Pro and Ultimate) that supports 30W fast charging and it can reduce the temperature of the device by up 15°C.

ASUS also announced two optional accessories such as ROG Kunai 3 modular gamepad, which can be connected to the ROG Phone 5 using USB Type-C or Bluetooth. It is also compatible with AeroActive Cooler 5. The ROG Lighting Amor Case accessory which comes with Aura lighting for visual experience prevents the ROG Phone 5 series from scratches and bumps.  The ROG Cetra II gaming headphones coms with features like ANC, USB Type-C, and Liquid Silicon Rubber (LSR drivers).
