ASUS ROG Phone 5s and ROG Phone 5s Pro have been launched in China and Taiwan. These phones are an updated version of the ROG Phone 5 lineup that was announced in the first half of the year. The ROG Phone 5s replaces the ROG Phone 5, whereas the 5s Pro succeeds the ROG Phone 5 Pro/Ultimate.

The newly unveiled ROG Phone 5s lineup are equipped with the latest Snapdragon 888 Plus mobile platform. The gaming-focused smartphone continues to sport OLED panels with support for up to 144Hz refresh rate. The ROG Phone 5s duo offer up to 18GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The Pro model features a secondary color display on the back.

The ASUS ROG Phone 5s have launched with Snapdragon 888+ chipset

The ROG Phone 5s and ROG Phone 5s Pro feature a 6.78-inch S-AMOLED screen that offers a Full HD+ resolution, adaptable 144Hz refresh rate, a 360Hz touch sampling rate, and an in-screen fingerprint sensor. The front side of the ROG Phone 5s duo features a 24-megapixel front camera. Their rear shells are fitted with a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 (main) + 13-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 5-megapixel (macro) triple camera unit.

The Snapdragon 888+ powers the ROG Phone 5s devices with up 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. These models also offer up to 6GB of extended RAM. They are backed by a 6,000mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging.

The ROG Phone 5 Ultimate featured a monochrome OLED secondary screen on the back. The ROG Phone 5s gets a PMOLED colour-enabled ROG Vision display. It also features two touch sensors on the back for gaming. On the other hand, the ROG Phone 5s features a typical RGB-lit ROG logo instead of the secondary display. It lacks rear-facing touch sensors. For gamers, both models are equipped with ultrasonic AirTrigger 5 gaming shoulder buttons.

The ROG Phone 5s duo run ZenUI 8/ROG UI based Android 11. These smartphones offer other features like dual-SIM support, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, front-firing stereo speakers, DisplayPort 1.4, a USB 3.1 Gen. 2, t, and a 3.5mm audio jack. As far as accessories are concerned, the ROG Phone 5s and ROG Phone 5s Pro are compatible with all accessories that came with ROG Phone 5 and older ROG Phone 3 except TwinView Dock 3. The Pro model comes bundles with an AeroActive Cooler 5.

ASUS ROG Phone 5s pricing and availability

The ROG Phone 5s comes in two variants such as 16GB RAM + 256GB storage and 18GB RAM + 512GB storage. They are priced at TWD 29,990 (~Rs 79,900) and TWD 33,990 (~Rs 90,600), respectively. It comes in colours like Phantom Black and Aurora White. On the other hand, the ROG Phone 5s Pro with 18GB RAM + 512G storage is priced at TWD 37,990 (~Rs 1,01,200). It can be purchased in Phantom Black colour only.

According to ASUS, the ROG Phone 5s will be replacing the ROG Phone 5s when its existing stocks deplete. However, it is unclear whether the ROG Phone 5s will be made available in India.
