Gaming phones are becoming increasingly popular thanks to the rise of mobile gamers. We have already seen the launch of the Razer Phone 2 and Xiaomi’s Black Shark Helo last month, but none of the two made it to India. Now, Taiwanese company ASUS has sent out press invites to the media for the launch of the ASUS ROG gaming smartphone on November 29th.
The ROG Phone boasts of a 6-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display. It features a 90Hz screen refresh rate and a response time of 1ms, providing smoother animations and transitions. For an immersive sound experience, there are dual front facing stereo speakers with a smart amplifier.
Under the hood, the ROG Phone houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset clocked at 2.9GHz. The processor is paired with 8GB RAM and an integrated Adreno 630 graphics processor for multi-tasking and lag-free gaming performance. There are two storage configurations, one with 128GB and the other with 512GB. The ROG Phone runs on a 4,000mAh battery unit. It supports HyperCharge technology for fast charging. In terms of software, the ROG Phone runs Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
On the optics front, this gaming smartphone sports a dual rear camera setup comprising of 12MP + 8MP sensors. There is an 8MP snapper fitted on the front for clicking selfies and video calling. As for connectivity, the device features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, NFC, and GPS. The ROG phone has three USB Type-C ports for connecting various accessories.
The ROG Phone is also supplemented by gaming accessories. The list includes an AeroActive cooler, Gamevice controller, Mobile Desktop Dock, and TwinView Dock. However, there’s no confirmation on whether ASUS will bring those accessories to India.
