Asus ROG Phone with 90Hz Gaming Display, 8GB RAM and 3D Vapour Cooling Launched in India for Rs 69,999

In June, Asus had introduced the gaming focused ROG Phone at the Computex expo in Taiwan. In the recent months, the smartphone has been available in multiple markets like the U.S., Europe and China. Today, the Taiwanese firm has introduced the ROG Phone in India. Even various gaming phones such as Razer Phone, Razer Phone 2, Xiaomi Black Shark, Black Shark Helo, nubia Red Magic and Red Magic Mars have launched in the recent past, none of them have been released in India. Hence, the Asus ROG Phone is the first true gaming smartphone for India.

Apart from flagship specifications, the Asus ROG Phone also includes many exciting gaming features which makes it an attractive proposition for gamers. The Flipkart-exclusive ROG Phone has just landed in India with a starting price of Rs. 69,999.



The front of the Asus ROG Phone features dual front-firing speakers. The 3D rear glass of the phone sports a futuristic design, bearing an RGB-lit ROG logo. The device measures 158.8 x 76.2 x 8.3mm. The ROG Phone is an IP68 water-resistant smartphone, and weighs a hefty 200 grams. There is a side-mounted custom port on the ROG phone which includes two conjoined USB-C ports. This can be not only used for charging the phone, but also for connecting the different gaming accessories while the handset is held in landscape mode.


The notch-less 6-inch AMOLED screen supports full HD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. It is protected by Gorilla Glass 6. The display boasts 90 Hz refresh rate with 1ms response time, HDR visuals, 100,000:1 contrast ratio, 550nits brightness, Always-on features and 108.6 percent DCI-P3 wide colour gamut.


The Snapdragon 845 chipset sits at the heart of the ROG Phone. The SoC is coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage. It is the world’s first smartphone to come equipped with a 3D vapour-chamber cooling system which keeps the internal temperature under control while playing resource-hungry games.

The smartphone is shipped with Android 8.1 Oreo that is overlaid with ROG Gaming UI. There is an X Mode on the device which when activated, drives all the processing power to the game that is being played on the device. In the X Mode, the appearance of the UI switches to deep red from the usual blue. The left edge of the phone features a pair of mappable gaming buttons called Air Triggers that are embedded with ultrasonic sensors.


The Asus ROG Phone includes a 4,000mAh battery that supports 20W rapid charging technology. The handset can be charged either by connecting to the USB-C port placed on the bottom edge of the phone or through the side-mounted custom port.


The dual camera setup that resides on the rear of the ROG Phone includes a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 sensor with f/1.7 aperture as the primary camera. It is equipped with features like LED flash, 4-axis OIS, dual pixel autofocus, AI scene detection, real-time portrait and beautification. The main sensor is assisted by 8-megapixel wide-angle lens that offers 120-degree field of view. At the front of the ROG Phone is an 8-megapixel selfie shooter with 84-degree of field of view.

Other Features

The Asus ROG Phone is equipped with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The handset also supports face recognition. There is no microSD card slot on the device. The dual speakers at the front is equipped with dual NXP 9874 smart amplifier. For surround sound output, it carries support for DTS 7.1.  The connectivity features of the smartphone include dual-SIM support, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ad, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS and 3.5mm audio jack.

Asus is also selling a range of accessories for the ROG Phone such as Mobile Desktop Dock for desktop PC like gaming experience, TwinView Dock for dual-screen handheld mode and GameVice controller for console-like gaming. The company claims that the ROG Phone has a modular rear which allows users to easily attach and detach AeroActive for additional cooling.

Asus ROG Phone Pricing and Release Date

The ASUS ROG Phone has arrived in India with a price tag of Rs 69,999. Starting from today, the Asus ROG Phone will be available for purchase in India via Flipkart.

The Professional Dock, GameVice, TwinView Dock and Desktop Dock are respectively priced at Rs. 5,499, Rs. 5,999, Rs. 21,999 and Rs. 12,999. The ROG Phone case by Asus can be availed for Rs. 2,499. Flipkart is providing the handset with no cost EMI for up to 12 months through leading banks. Jio users who carry out a recharge of Rs. 509 can benefit from Rs. 5,000 instant cashback and 4G daily data for a reduced price of Rs. 259.
