ASUS has announced a total of six gaming laptops under its ROG series in India. These gaming laptops were showcased earlier at this year’s CES. The lineup includes ROG Strix G531/G731, ROG Strix Scar III, ROG G703 and more. Let’s take a look at the tech specs, pricing, and availability of each laptop below:
ROG Strix G531/G731:
The ROG Strix G531 sports a 15.6-inch display bearing an FHD resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, the G731 comes with a larger 17.3-inch FHD screen and 60Hz panel. The display is surrounded by slim bezels offering an 81.5 percent screen-to-body ratio. Both these devices feature an RGB backlit keyboard, which can be customised by the user. The laptops are equipped with ventilated 3D Flow Zone and strategic keyboard ventilation that keeps the user’s hands cool during longer gaming sessions. On the weighing scale, the G531 measures 2.4kgs while the G731 weighs 2.85kgs.
In the hardware department, the ROG Strix G531 is equipped with a 9th-generation Core i5 processor while the Strix G731 houses a 9th-generation Core i7 chipset. The processor on both machines is paired with up to Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 GDDR5 4GB graphics card. The laptops also pack up to 32GB DDR4 RAM. In terms of storage, the G531 and G731 offer 1TB space in form of PCIe and HDD respectively. The ROG Strix G531 and G731 are backed by a 48WHr 3-cell Li-ion battery. The laptops run on Windows 10 (64 bit) out of the box. Connectivity-wise, the devices come with three USB 3.1 ports, Gen 1 Type-A port, HDMI port, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0.
ROG Strix SCAR III:
The ROG Strix Scar III (first impressions) is the upgraded variant of ROG Strix G531. The laptop is available in three configurations in terms of display and GPU namely Strix Scar III G531 GV/GW/GU. All three models sport a 15.6-inch IPS-level display bearing a full HD resolution. The GV and GU model features a 144Hz refresh panel while the GW comes with a 240Hz refresh rate for smooth gameplay. The laptop flaunts an RGB backlit keyboard with 4-zone RGB and anti-ghosting technology. There is no dedicated number pad, but it can be accessed on the touchpad by pressing and holding the right corner of the touchpad. An RGB strip runs along the base illuminating the outer edge of the chassis. The ROG Strix Scar III G531 carries a weight of 2.39kgs
Under the hood, the ROG Strix Scar III G531 houses up to 9th-generation Core i9 processor clocked at 4.1GHz. On the graphics front, the higher model i.e G531 GW is equipped with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 GDDR6 8GB GPU. The G531 GV and GU models come with a GDDR6 6GB RTX 2060 and GTX 1660Ti respectively. All three models pack up to 32GB DDR 4 RAM. The machines offer 1TB storage in form of NVMe PCIe along with a 2.5-inch drive bay to accommodate a hard disk or disk drive. The ROG Strix Scar III G531 draws its power from a 66WHr 4-cell Li-ion battery unit. In terms of connectivity, the laptops come with 3 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C, HDMI 2.0, 3.5mm jack, LAN port, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0. The ROG Strix Scar III comes with a ROG Keystone, which is used to store encrypted data securely.
ROG Strix Hero III:
The ROG Strix Hero III has a similar configuration as the Scar III G531 GU model. This means a 15.6-inch FHD display with a 144Hz refresh rate and 3ms response time. The laptop will be powered by up to 9th-generation Core i9 chipset paired with GTX 1660Ti GDDR6 6GB graphics card and up to 16GB RAM. It offers 1TB HDD+256GB SSD storage.
ROG G703 GX R:
The ROG G703 GX R is aimed at serious gamers who want to overclock both the CPU and GPU. The laptop boasts of a 17.3-inch display with FHD resolution. It features a 144Hz refresh panel with 2ms response time, Nvidia G-Sync support and an anti-glare finish. There is an RGB backlit keyboard with per-key lighting and a 2.5mm travel distance. On the audio front, the laptop is equipped with two 2W speakers and two 4.5W speakers with Smart AMP technology and an array microphone.
Under the hood, the ROG G703 GX R houses the flagship 9th-generation Core i9 processor overclockable up to 4.8GHz. The chipset is paired with Nvidia RTX 2080 graphics card with 8GB GDDR6 VRAM. The laptop packs 32GB DDR4 RAM clocking a speed of 2666MHz. In terms of storage, the machine comes with 2TB 2.5-inch Firecuda SSHD. It also comes with three slots of M.2 PCIEX4 NVME 512GB SSD. All the storage drives are set up in RAID0. The ROG G703 is equipped with two 12V fans and anti-dust cooling technology.
The ROG G703 GX R is backed by a 96WHr battery unit along with two 280W power adaptors to top-up the battery. For connectivity, the laptop comes with a host of options including three USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, USB 3.1 Type-C, USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3 port, Ethernet port, mini display port, 3.5mm audio jack for headphone out and mic in, one Kensington lock, and a card reader. Apart from these, the laptop also features Wi-Fi 5.0 and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.
Pricing & Availability:
Beginning with the ROG Strix G531/G731, the base configuration of G531 with 1TB hybrid HDD and GTX 1050 is priced at Rs 59,990. The G531 with 512GB SSD and GTX 1650 will cost Rs 74,990. The G731 with 1TB HDD+256GB SSD carries a price tag of Rs 94,990. The G531 with GTX 1650 and 1050 will be available for purchase on Flipkart from 9th July. The G731 will be available in the second half of July.
The ROG Strix Scar III G531 GW model will retail at Rs 2,49,990 while the G531 GV with a 144Hz refresh rate and RTX 2060 will cost Rs 1,54,990. The price of ROG Hero III has been set at Rs 1,39,990. The ROG G703GX R is priced at Rs 3,99,990. No details regarding the availability of ROG Strix Scar III, Hero III, and ROG G703 GX R are known at the moment.
