ASUS announces new ROG Strix Scar III and Hero III gaming laptops

ASUS has announced new variants of the ROG Strix Scar III and Hero III gaming laptops. The updated variants feature the latest 9th generation Intel Core mobile processors and Nvidia GeForce RTX GPUs.

ASUS ROG Strix Scar III and Hero III features

The ASUS ROG Strix Scar III comes in Gunmetal Grey and has a carbon-weave pattern on the inside. On the other hand, the Hero III features a Midnight Black colour and comes with a cyber-text pattern. Both laptops are available with either 15.6 or 17.3-inch displays. They also have RGB lighting all around the base, which can sync with the RGB lighting on the logo. You can also get transparent WASD key caps and a four-zone RGB keyboard with the laptop as optional extras. The Taiwanese manufacturer has designed the laptops in collaboration with BMW Designworks. For the new models, it has introduced the ROG Keystone, which is used to store encrypted data and features NFC support. The Keystone will dock into the laptop.

Now, let’s look at the updated internals. The ROG Strix Scar III and Hero III can be configured with the latest 9th generation Intel Core i9-9980H CPU and up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 GPUs. The laptops support up to 32GB of DDR4-2666 RAM and 1TB of M.2 NVMe SSD. It also supports up to 1TB of SSHD. You can equip them with a super smooth 240Hz 15.6-inch Full HD display, which is also available in 144Hz and 120Hz refresh rates. If you want a larger display, then you can opt for the 17.3-inch FHD screen with 144Hz refresh rate. All of these panels will offer a 3ms response time and have thin bezels.

ASUS has also improved the cooling performance on the laptops, which now come with 33 percent thinner fan blades. You get dual 12V fans that provides 17 percent better airflow and better cooling under heavy load. As for ports, there are plenty of them on the new Scar III and Hero III laptops.
