Alongside the launch of the ROG Strix series, ASUS also announced laptops in its Zephyrus lineup. The Zephyrus S series includes the Zephyrus S GX701 and S GX531, while the third device is a Zephyrus M GU502. The Zephyrus S laptops are touted to be the world’s slimmest gaming laptops. Let’s take a look at the devices below:
Zephyrus S GX701:
The ASUS Zephyrus S GX701 sports a large 17.3-inch Pantone-validated display bearing full HD resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate with a 3ms response time. The display supports Nvidia G-Sync and is VR ready. The laptop features a pre-key RGB keyboard with a 1.4mm travel distance. On the audio front, the Zephyrus S GX701 comes with dual speakers producing 2.5W output with smart AMP technology.
As for the internals, the Zephyrus S GX701 is powered by the 9th gen Core i7 processor. It is coupled with an 8GB GDDR6 Nvidia RTX 2080 graphics card based on Max-Q architecture. The laptop packs 16GB onboard DDR4 RAM and is expandable up to 32GB. It offers 1TB SSD storage and an additional M.2 NVMe PCIe slot. The Zephyrus S GX701 draws its power from a 76WHr battery unit. Out of the box, it runs on Windows 10.

Zephyrus S GX531:
The Zephyrus S GX531 is a toned down variant among the two S-series devices. The laptop features a smaller 15.6-inch display with FHD resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate. This one too comes with a 4-zone RGB keyboard and Aura sync. The laptop is equipped with 2 x 2W speakers and audio tuned by ASUS Sonic Studio.
On the hardware front, the Zephyrus S GX531 is equipped with a 9th gen Core i7 chipset coupled with RTX 2070 Nvidia GPU. It packs 8GB DDR4 RAM expandable up to 24GB. The laptop offers 1TB storage in form of NVMe PCIe 3.0. The Zephyrus S GX531 is backed by a 4-cell 60WHr battery unit. Connectivity options on the laptop include a DC in, USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C, two USB 2.0, USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C, USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A, HDMI, Kensington lock, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
It’s worth noting that both the Zephyrus S GX701 and GX531 come with a patent cooling system with anti-dust cooling fans, five heat pipes, and four heat sinks.
Zephyrus M GU502:
The Zephyrus M GU502 is a portable gaming laptop. It offers a 15.6-inch FHD display with a 144Hz refresh rate. The laptop comes with RGB backlit keyboard with Aura sync and hotkeys. For audiophiles, it is equipped with two speakers with smart AMP technology.
Under the hood, the Zephyrus M GU502 is powered by 9th gen Core i7-9750H processor. It is coupled with Nvidia GTX 1660Ti 6GB GDDR6 VRAM graphics card onboard. The device packs 16GB onboard DDR4 RAM and can be expanded up to 32GB. Storage-wise, it offers 512GB space in form of SSD with RAID 0 support. The Zephyrus M GU502 is fuelled by a 76WHr battery unit and is claimed to last 6-hours on continuous web browsing.
The laptop is equipped with various connectivity options which include USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C with DisplayPort 1.4, an Ethernet port, USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A, two USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A, HDMI port, 3.5mm jack and a Kensington lock. It also comes with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 support.
