Asus has finally started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat over-the-air update to the Zenfone 3 Laser ZC551KL (Also read: Asus Zenfone 3 Laser review). To recall, the phone was launched in October last year with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.
The software update (version 14.2015.1701.13) brings all the bells and whistles of Google’s most recent Android iteration. Some of these features include split-screen multitasking, customisable quick settings, improved Google keyboard, enhanced notifications, and recent applications window.
Furthermore, the Asus Zenfone 3 Laser now receives ‘Double Tap’ feature that makes it easy to switch between the most recent apps. It also brings ‘Doze on the go’ feature for better battery optimisation, thanks to Android Nougat.
Before upgrading to Android Nougat, make sure that your Zenfone 3 Laser has at least 50% charge and 2GB of space available. Did I mention that the update consists of 1.3GB in size? You can also manually check if your device has received an update. All you need to do is go to Settings > About Phone > Software Update.
The Asus Zenfone 3 Laser sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the top. It is powered by 64-Bit Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at 1.4GHz and 4GB of RAM. It packs in a 3000mAh non-removable battery.
It is a Dual-SIM device with one Micro-SIM and one Nano-SIM slot. As for storage, the Asus Zenfone 3 Laster features 32GB of internal storage, which is further expandable up to 128GB via the hybrid Nano-SIM slot. It weighs 150g and measures 149 x 76 x 7.9 mm in dimension.
On the camera front, it houses a 16-megapixel primary camera on the back with laser autofocus, dual-tone LED flash and f/2.0 aperture. Up front is an 8-megapixel front selfie camera. It has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Available in Glacier Silver and Sand Gold color options, the Asus Zenfone 3 Laser comes at the price of Rs. 16,999.
