At the Computex 2019 trade show in Taipei, ASUS displayed a slew of laptops in the ROG, VivoBook and ZenBook range. Last year, the company launched the world’s first laptop with a touchscreen trackpad. Now ASUS has announced a new groundbreaking laptop called the ZenBook Pro Duo featuring a secondary touchscreen. The ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo comes in two variants – UX581 and UX481. The former is a higher-end variant while the latter comes with a few toned down specs. Let’s take a look below:
ZenBook Pro Duo UX581:
The ZenBook Pro Duo UX581 comes with a main 15.6-inch OLED display bearing a 4K resolution. The display is surrounded by ultraslim bezels and a frameless four-sided ASUS NanoEdge design. The laptop features a 14-inch secondary touchscreen called the ScreenPad Plus. The ScreenPad Plus is located above the keyboard as compared to the trackpad touchscreen we saw on the ZenBook Pro 15. It integrates easily with the primary display and built-in software that offers a wide selection of useful apps, tools, and utilities. The ZenBook Pro Duo also features a dedicated touchscreen number pad on the right side. On the audio front, the laptop comes with a Harman Kardon certified audio system. The ZenBook Pro Duo UX581 weighs 2.5kgs and is available in a Celestial Blue color.
Under the hood, the ZenBook Pro Duo is powered by up to 9th Gen Intel Core chipsets. The UX581 comes in two processor options – Core i9-9980HK and Core i7-9750H. It is paired with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 GPU comprising of 6GB GDDR6 VRAM. The device packs up to 32GB DDR4 memory. In terms of storage, the UX581 offers up to 1TB PCIe SSD memory. The ZenBook Pro Duo UX581 draws its power from a 71Wh 4-cell battery unit. Software-wise, the device runs on Windows 10 Home or Pro OS.
Connectivity options on the ZenBook Pro Duo UX581 include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, Thunderbolt 3 port, two USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A ports, HDMI port, and an audio jack.
ZenBook Pro Duo UX481:
Coming to the UX481, the device is a smaller and affordable ScreenPad Plus laptop. It has the same design but a lighter and smaller chassis compared to the UX581. The UX481 sports a 14-inch main display while the ScreenPad Plus has a 12.6-inch touchscreen. Both the displays bear full HD resolution.
Another difference between the two ZenBook Pro Duos is on the hardware front, The UX481 is equipped with up to the latest Intel Core i7 processors. It comes with GeForce MX250 2GB GDDR5 VRAM. The device packs up to16GB LPDDR3 RAM. It offers the same storage capacity as the UX581. The UX481 is powered by a smaller 70Wh 4-cell battery.
Other specifications regarding software, connectivity are the same as found on the UX581.
