Taiwanese smartphone maker ASUS is gearing up for the launch of the ZenFone 6. It is the successor to last year’s ZenFone 5 and is scheduled to launch on May 16th in Valencia, Spain. There is not much known about the ZenFone 6 currently. Now, ASUS has started teasing its upcoming smartphone on social media. The teaser’s ‘Defy Ordinary’ tagline also suggests a new design.
Although the teaser doesn’t reveal much, it confirms that the ZenFone 6 will be a full-screen smartphone. As you can see, there is no notch or display cutout and the screen seems bezel-less. This means that the smartphone could feature a rising pop-up module for the selfie camera like the Vivo V15 Pro or OPPO F11 Pro. There were reports that the device may even sport a dual-slider design for front and rear camera. We can confirm that there is an earpiece unit at the top, and power and volume buttons on the right.
Being a next-generation flagship, the ZenFone 6 is expected to house a Snapdragon 855 processor. It may pack a minimum of 6GB RAM and offer 128GB internal memory. The device is rumoured to come with a dual rear camera setup comprising of a 48MP main sensor. The ZenFone 6 will run on the latest Android 9 Pie out of the box.
There could also be a higher-end variant of the ZenFone 6 dubbed as the ZenFone 6Z. It may come equipped with a triple rear camera setup and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
We will have to wait till ASUS officially launches the device on May 16th.
