ASUS ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro with flip camera reportedly launching soon

Earlier this year, Qualcomm had released a list of smartphones that would debut with the Snapdragon 865 flagship processor in 2020. The ZenFone 7 was mentioned in the list, but the rumour mill has been silent on its specs and features. A mysterious smartphone labelled as ‘asus ZF’ had surfaced on Geekbench benchmarks last month. Netizens speculated that it could be the upcoming ZenFone.

It seems ASUS is now working on the launch of the ZenFone 7 series, as a Chinese publication has revealed that the devices will be launching soon.

ASUS ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro specifications and features

The ZenFone 7 series is expected to feature a flip camera, just like the ASUS 6z (pictured above)

The publication reveals that the ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro are the names of the two upcoming devices. One of the key features of the ASUS 6z (aka ZenFone 6) was that it came with a flip camera system. It had an IPS LCD panel with a notch-less design. Instead of a separate selfie camera, the rear-facing dual camera could be flipped to the front to capture selfie shots.

The reports reveal that the ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro will retain the flip camera system. The Taiwanese manufacturer is expected to increase the number of cameras on the ZenFone 7 series.

The leak also reveals that the ZenFone 7 and 7 Pro will be available in black and white colourways. Both phones will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform and come with support for 5G connectivity. The ZenFone 7 will be priced lower than the Snapdragon 865 Plus powered ASUS ROG Phone 3 that is scheduled to go official in India and global markets on July 22nd. The launch date of the ZenFone 7 series is under wraps.

The ‘asus ZF’ smartphone that was spotted on Geekbench last month was fueled by Snapdragon 865 and it runs Android 10. Since it had 16GB of RAM onboard, it might have been the ZenFone 7 Pro handset.

Since ASUS is not allowed to sell ‘Zen’ branded devices in India, the ZenFone 6 was launched in the country as the ASUS 6z. Hence, there is a possibility that the new phones might hit the market as the ASUS 7z and ASUS 7z Pro. This is just speculation, and there is no news on the arrival of the ZenFone 7 series in India at present.
