The ASUS ZenFone 8 and ZenFone 8 Flip have been launched globally. The ZenFone 8 is a Snapdragon 888 SoC-powered flagship phone that sports a compact design. Other key features include a high refresh rate display, a 64-megapixel dual-camera system, and fast charging support.

On the other hand, the ZenFone 8 Flip inherits the flip-up camera design from the ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 6. This allows it to sport a bezel-less display. It does not feature a front-facing camera. Instead of it, the rear-facing triple cameras can be flipped to the front to shoot high-resolution selfie shots.

The ASUS ZenFone 8 and ZenFone 8 Flip offer a 120Hz display and Snapdragon 888

The ZenFone 8 has a 5.92-inch AMOLED FHD+ screen, which is integrated with a fingerprint scanner. It sports a 120Hz refresh rate, a 20.5:9 aspect ratio, a peak brightness of 1,100 nits, and HDR10+. The punch-hole is shielded by a layer of the all-new Gorilla Glass Victus.

The Snapdragon 888 mobile platform drives the ZenFone 8 with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. It comes with up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. A 4,000mAh battery is at the helm of the device, which carries support for 30W rapid charging.

The front-facing 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 camera of the ZenFone 8 supports dual-pixel phase detection autofocus. The dual-camera system placed on the rear panel of the phone has a Sony IMX686 64-megapixel primary camera and a Sony IMX363 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with dual PD autofocus.

The ZenFone 8 Flip has a larger 6.67-inch AMOLED E4 screen, which also delivers a 90Hz refresh rate. The 20:9 aspect ratio display comes with other features like HDR10+ support, an in-screen fingerprint scanner, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

The ZenFone 8 Flip is also fueled by the Snapdragon 888 SoC, up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It has a 5,000mAh battery, which is coupled with 30W rapid charging.

The flip-up camera system of the ZenFone 8 Flip has a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 primary camera, a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 ultra-wide lens, and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom support.

The ZenFone 8 and ZenFone 8 Flip runs Android 11, which is overlaid with ZenUI. The ZenFone 8 duo are packed with other features such as dual SIM, 5G, a dedicated microSD slot, Wi-Fi 6 (6E on Flip), Bluetooth 5.2, dual-frequency GPS, NFC, USB Type-C, dual Cirrus Logic CS5L45 amplifiers, DIRAC HD sound technology, Hi-Res audio support, and a 3.5mm headphone jack (only on ZenFone 8). Lastly, both smartphones sport an aluminium frame for durability and IP68 rating, which dust and water-resistance.

ASUS ZenFone 8 and ZenFone 8 Flip pricing and availability

The ASUS ZenFone 8 has arrived in four variants such as 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB storage, and 16GB RAM + 256GB storage. The base model is priced at €599 (~Rs 53,300), but the pricing of the other variants will be confirmed later.

The ZenFone 8 Flip with 8GB RAM + 256GB storage will be available for €799 (~Rs 71,000). The ZenFone 8 comes in Obsidian Black and Horizon Silver, while the Flip model comes in Galactic Black and Glacier Silver.

Yesterday, ASUS confirmed that it postponed the ZenFone 8 launch event in India due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The phones are expected to launch in India in the coming months.
