On: July 21, 2018

It does seem like Asus is looking to capture all markets as far as smartphones go as it has now launched a new variant to the Zenfone Max Pro M1 with 6GB of RAM. Earlier last week, the company also launched the Zenfone 5Z(read full review) which was targeted at the budget smartphone market. With this device, though, the Taiwanese company is looking to heat up the competition with Xiaomi.

To recall, the Zenfone Max Pro M1 was launched late in April and the two things it lacked then, when compared to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro was the lack of better camera sensors and 6GB RAM. The company has now checked off both of the phone’s shortcomings with this specced up variant.

On the front, the phone has a 5.99-inch Full-HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, rocking a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. This is a very colour accurate display panel and we really enjoyed the content on this phone.

Underneath its hood, the smartphone has the best in class mid range processor – the Snapdragon 636. This processor is capable of handling most daily tasks without any hiccups. For multitasking, this variant packs in 6GB of RAM which is more than sufficient to keep most applications running in foreground as well as in the background. On the storage front, Asus will ship this phone with 64GB of internal memory. If this happens to run out, the phone also has a dedicated microSD card slot which allows you to expand memory up to 2TB.

For the shutterbugs, the phone has a dual rear camera setup comprising of a slightly better 16-megapixel sensor and a secondary 5-megapixel one. Up front, there is an improved 16-megapixel sensor for capturing selfies, video calling and unlocking the phone through face detection. The major highlight of the phone, however, has to be its battery; it has a 5,000mAh unit located underneath its metal shell which can keep it powered for well over a day.
