Asus Zenfone Lite (L1) and Zenfone Max (M1) Launched in India, Prices Start at Rs 6,999

Prior to launch, e-commerce portal Flipkart teased the launch of two new Asus budget smartphones. Now the Taiwan-based company has unveiled the Zenfone Lite (L1) and Zenfone Max (M1) at an event held in New Delhi today. Let’s take a look at the technical specifications of both the devices.

Zenfone Lite (L1)

Zenfone Lite (L1)

Starting with the Zenfone Lite, the device sports a 5.45-inch HD+ IPS display bearing a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. The display has thin bezels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The device features a metal unibody design and has 2D curved glass fitted on the top. There is no physical fingerprint scanner on the rear.

As for the camera, this phone features a single 13MP rear sensor with f/2.0 aperture and an LED flash. On the front, there is a 5MP snapper with soft LED flash for clicking selfies in low light. There is Asus’s proprietary PixelMaster technology that offers various modes like beauty, panorama, timelapse, portrait and HDR. The front camera offers a face unlock feature that compensates for the absence of a fingerprint scanner.

The Zenfone Lite is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset coupled with 2GB RAM and an Adreno 505 GPU. It offers 16GB internal storage, expandable up to 256GB via a dedicated microSD card slot. The Zenfone Lite is backed by a 3,000mAh battery and runs Android 8.0 Oreo with ZenUI 5.0 on top.

Zenfone Max (M1)

The Zenfone Max (M1) is the higher variant among the two. It features the same 5.45-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Like the Zenfone Lite, this device too has a metallic finish and 2D curved glass. The Zenfone Max comes with a rear mounted fingerprint scanner, unlike the Lite model.

In the camera department, the Zenfone Max comes with a 13MP PDAF sensor with f/2.0. It is accompanied by LED flash. Up front, there is an 8MP sensor with soft LED flash for clicking selfies. The camera software includes various modes like beauty, pro, timelapse, portrait and HDR. For additional security, the front camera also works as a face unlock feature.

Under the hood, the Zenfone Max (M1) houses the same octa-core Snapdragon 430 SoC, but comes with 3GB RAM. In terms of storage, the device offers 32GB internal memory expandable up to 256GB via a dedicated microSD card slot.

The Zenfone Max (M1) draws its power from a 4,000mAh battery unit. Out of the box, it runs Android 8.0 Oreo with ZenUI 5.0 on top.
