Asus has launched a new smartphone ZenFone V for the US market with Verizon as an exclusive US carrier. However, it is not yet clear whether ‘V’ denotes the number 5 (As in 10 with iPhone X) or the English letter V. As per the speculations suggests, V is likely to refer Verizon as the Asus ZenFone 5 already exists. But again, we’re talking about Asus here which just launched a new ZenFone 4-series lineup even when they already have launched a smartphone named ZenFone 4 in the past.
The phone is already listed on the Asus’ official website revealing the specs. As per the listing, the Asus ZenFone V puts on a 5.2-inch Full HD AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Furthermore, there also sits a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass protection on the top of the display. Under the hood, the phone is powered by quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor ticking at 2.2GHz. Accompanying the processor, there sits 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage further expandable up to 256GB via MicroSD card.
The phone runs company’s own ZenUI 3.0 wrapped over Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Coming to the camera section which is also touted to be the main USP of the phone. The Asus ZenFone V sports a 23-megapixel primary camera with an aperture size of f/2.0. Other features of the camera include 4-axis OIS, EIS, dual-tone LED flash and different modes such as low-light, portrait, and selfie panorama. Up front, it flaunts an 8-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture.
As far as connectivity is concerned, the ZenFone V gets Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, GPS, A-GPS/GLONASS, 4G LTE, and USB Type-C. The phone measures 146.5×72.6×7.6mm in dimensions and weighs 147 grams. Powering all, there lies a 3000mAh non-removable battery. As the phone will be available for purchase in the US market in exclusive with carrier Verizon, it’s highly unlikely to be launched in other markets. The company hasn’t even revealed the price and availability of the device either.
