[Update: July 5th, 2021] BGMI has announced that data transfers will be suspended starting July 9th instead of July 6th as mentioned earlier.
Battlegrounds Mobile India, popularly called BGMI, finally went live on the Play Store earlier this morning. The battle royale game, which is essentially a rebranded version of PUBG Mobile for India, was previously available as an early access version for beta testers.
With the game now being available to download directly from the Play Store, even more gamers are expected to come on board. The good news is that BGMI allows you to transfer your PUBG Mobile account to the game, so you can pick up right where you left off. However, Krafton, the game’s developer, has now announced that account transfers will be temporarily suspended from July 9th.
BGMI account transfers to be suspended from July 9th
As per Krafton’s official statement, data transfers will be shut down from July 9th until further notice. The developer cites maintenance as the cause for the shutdown, however, it does not mention how long the service will be unavailable. Krafton has asked users who wish to migrate their data to do so before July 6th, in order to avoid waiting until the maintenance is over. The developer also confirms that even those users who transfer their PUBG Mobile accounts will receive pre-registration awards.
For those unaware, Krafton will allow PUBG Mobile users to transfer their data to BGMI only until December 31st, 2021. Users who download the game after that will need to create a new account and start from scratch.
