- BGMI login with Facebook accounts using the browser will be disabled from November 5th
- Facebook logins on BGMI will need to use the Facebook app
- The change is only for Android devices
BGMI has confirmed today that login with Facebook accounts using the embedded browser will be disabled from November 5th for Android devices. After the said date, logins with the Facebook account will be only possible if the Facebook app is installed on the device. The new announcement only applies to Android devices, and not iOS.
If Battlegrounds Mobile India users are using the Facebook to login, they will have to install the Facebook app on their devices. If they fail to do so, they will not be able to login to their BGMI account after November 5th.
BGMI now requires Facebook app for logins with Facebook accounts
When Krafton had launched the Battlegrounds Mobile India game, it had allowed different login options like Facebook and Twitter to allow users to migrate their game data from PUBG to BGMI until December 31st, 2021. However, the game developer had to stop this data transfer for Facebook on September 28th after a change in Facebook SDK policy. The policy update also prevents users from using the Facebook in-browser login service to sign into the game.
The press release by Krafton confirms November 5th as the date for the Facebook login change. The company had first notified about it back in August. It said, “After November 5th, logins will be disabled unless the Facebook App is installed on your device; we apologize for the inconvenience, but please install the Facebook App to use the game. We apologize once again for any inconvenience caused by the above changes. In case of any changes, please be assured that we will inform you promptly through further notice.”
To continue using the Facebook account to login into BGMI, players will need to have the Facebook app installed on their Android devices.
