[Update: July 14th, 2021] Krafton has officially announced the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2021 esports tournament. The details will be revealed on July 15th.


Battlegrounds Mobile India Series could be the name of BGMI’s first esports tournament open to all. Krafton, the developers of the game, recently teased the launch of esports through a dedicated website. Now, the details of the upcoming esports tournament have been leaked. According to reports, the developers will announce the tournament on July 15th and start accepting registrations on the same day. The tournament matches will take place from August 2021 to October 2021.

Notably, Krafton recently concluded its Launch Party tournament. The event witnessed Team Snax winning the event with Rs 3,30,000 as prize money. Battlegrounds Mobile India series esports tournament to begin in August

The leak was reported by Gamzo India, an esports news portal. According to the report, BGMI will announce the upcoming Battlegrounds Mobile India Series on July 15th after the BGMI 1.5 update has rolled out. The registrations for the tournament will open on the same day and it will be open for all. The esports tournament will kick off with in-game qualifiers on August 2nd, 2021, and multiple online qualifiers. According to the report, the tournament is scheduled to run for a duration of two months with finals set in October.

To qualify for the tournament, players need to be at least a Platinum tier in the game. Moreover, the tournament is likely to be exclusive to Android devices as there’s no news of the iOS release at the moment. Separately, GemWire has confirmed that the event will be organised by Tesseract Esports. Notably, this is the same media production company that used to host PUBG Mobile India esports tournaments in the past.

Battlegrounds Mobile India Series: prize pool

According to the exclusive report by Gamzo India, the upcoming tournament will have a prize pool of Rs 1 crore. This makes this the biggest ever tournament in the history of the battle royale game. The previous highest prize pool was Rs 50 lakh for the ‘PUBG MOBILE Campus Championship 2018’ sponsored by OPPO Mobile India. Just like the PUBG edition, Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) will have individual performance rewards as listed below.
