Often names for highlighting social issues through drama, Sinha’s work on Islamophobia, discrimination, patriotism, domestic violence and more has been lauded and also given several awards.
He is considered to be one of the most accomplished directors working in Bollywood today, and he is back with yet another thought-provoking film titled Bheed that addresses one of the most relevant social issues which the country faced in recent times.

Presented as a drama, Bheed sheds light on the social disparity faced by the country during the COVID-19 lockdown in India. The film is set for a theatrical release on March 24, 2023. As per reports, the digital rights for Bheed have been acquired by Netflix; however, details about the digital premiere is yet to be announced.

Written and directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film is produced under Benaras Media Works’s banner along with T-Series. Bheed will be distributed by AA Films and Reliance Entertainment and stars names like Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar, Dia Mirza, Ashutosh Rana, Pankaj Kapur, and Kritika Kamra. The film’s cinematography is handled by Soumik Mukherjee and edited by Atanu Mukherjee. The music is composed by Mangesh Dhakde.

The official announcement video was released on March 3, 2023, and has generated a lot of interest among cinema lovers who have missed watching movies on the big screen. The message shared with the trailer on social media platforms read, “Get ready to be moved by the untold story of a crisis that shook the whole nation. A recently released press statement quoted Anubhav Sinha who stated that it had been imperative for him to bring this story to life and share it with the audience. Co-producer Bhushan Kumar mentioned that the film would provide a deep and insightful perspective into some of the tough times that our country had been through in recent years. He also praised Anubhav’s vision as a director, stating that it was second to none.
