Black Shark 2 with Snapdragon 855 and 12GB RAM Launched in India: Price, Specifications

In March, the Black Shark 2 gaming phone was launched in China. The same phone has gone official today in India. The first Black Shark smartphone for India has arrived with a starting price of Rs 32,999. It features loaded specs like a big display, powerful chipset, up to 12GB of RAM, dual rear cameras and gaming-focused optimisations.


Design and Display

The Black Shark 2 comes with a metallic unibody that measures 163.6 x 75 x 8.8mm and it weighs 205 grams. There is an LED enabled Black Shark logo at the center of the back panel. The edges of the phone are equipped with LEDs and it features a Black Shark key. All the LEDs come with RGB customisations that glow for different gaming effects.

The Black Shark 2 smartphone houses a 6.39-inch AMOLED TrueView display that supports full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels, DCI-P3 color gamut, Always-on Display, full dimming, Super HDR, eye protection mode and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. A dedicated image processing chip is also available on the device for optimising the display’s colour reproduction. The AMOLED display is integrated with an in-screen fingerprint reader. The display features Master Touch pressure-sensing technology that offers enhanced controls.

CPU, RAM and Battery

The Snapdragon 855 mobile platform assisted with up to 12GB of RAM powers the Black Shark 2. For heat dissipation, the smartphone is equipped with Liquid Cooling 3.0 technology that includes a liquid cooling pipe and plate. It can reduce the temperature of CPU by up to 14 degrees. The smartphone comes with up to 256GB of internal storage.

The Black Shark 2 is loaded with Android 9 Pie that is customised with BlackShark OS. The Ludicrous Mode assists in allocating all the CPU resources towards optimised gaming performance. The 4,000mAh battery of the phone carries support for 27W rapid charging.

Cameras and Other Features

The front of the Black Shark 2 features a 20-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The rear side of the phone has a vertical dual camera setup with a 48-megapixel f/1.7 aperture lens as the main sensor and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with support for 2x optical zoom. The smartphone can shoot slow-motion videos of up to 1080p at 120 fps.

The Black Shark 2 features stereo speakers and triple microphones. For better network reception, the smartphone is equipped with an X-shaped antenna design. The smartphone can be connected to an external display by means of an HDMI cable. The other usual features such as dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-frequency GPS and USB Type-C are also available on the device. However, it lacks support for a microSD card and 3.5mm audio jack.

Price and Release Date

The Black Shark 2 comes in two colours – Shadow Black and Frozen Silver. The variants of the phone are 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. They are priced at Rs 39,999 and Rs 49,999 respectively.

The handset will be available for purchase starting from June 4th at 12pm via Flipkart.
