Black Shark 2 Pro with Snapdragon 855 Plus and 12GB RAM launched in China

The  Black Shark 2 Pro, which comes in as the more powerful variant of Black Shark 2, has been in the news a lot lately. First the Geekbench listing of the smartphone revealed some of the key features, and then a recent leak hinted at the colour variants. As expected, the Pro variant has gone official in China today and is officially the most powerful smartphone in the market as of now.

Black Shark 2 Pro specifications, features

The Black Shark 2 Pro has 12GB RAM on all variants unlike Black Shark 2 which has 8GB and 12GB

Aesthetically, the Black Shark 2 Pro looks the same as its smaller sibling. The gaming smartphone is fitted with a 6.39-inch full HD+ display featuring 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Moreover, the display panel is AMOLED and flaunts DC Dimming 2.0 which reduces flickering in low brightness levels. The display also gets all the goodies like 430 nits brightness, a 60,000:1 contrast ratio, Magic Press 2.0, 34.7ms touch latency and a 240Hz touchscreen polling rate. Driving the performance of the handset is the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset accompanied by 12GB RAM and Adreno 640 GPU. The smartphone comes with 128GB and 256GB UFS 3.0 storage depending on the variant you choose. The phone boots the Android 9 Pie-based Black Shark OS out of the box and uses an in-display fingerprint scanner for security.

Coming to the camera department, it borrows the same Sony IMX586 48-megapixel + 13-megapixel dual camera setup as the Black Shark 2. The company has retained the 4,000mAh and it supports 27W fast charging as well. The connectivity options remain the same including the 3.5mm audio jack and USB Type-C port. The phonemaker also announced a number of gaming-specific accessories for Black Shark 2 Pro including controllers.

Black Shark 2 Pro price, availability

The Black Shark 2 Pro base variant has been priced at 2,999 Yuan (~Rs 30,000). The 256GB will set you back by 3,499 Yuan (~Rs 35,000). The smartphone will be made available starting August 2nd. However, as of now, there is no word on the Indian availability. Notably, the Black Shark 2 has already been launched here back in May with a starting price of Rs 32,999.
