Xiaomi-backed gaming brand Black Shark launched its first smartphone in April last year. In October, the company launched its second gaming smartphone, dubbed Black Shark Helo. The company now appears to be working on its next gaming smartphone powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 855 mobile processor. The device, codenamed ‘Skywalker’ has been spotted on the Geekbench benchmark database.
Black Shark’s First Snapdragon 855-Powered Gaming Smartphone to Launch Soon?
The Black Shark ‘Skywalker’ Geekbench listing reveals the smartphone will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor under the hood. It scored 3,494 points in the single-core test and 11,149 points in the multi-core test. In the memory department, the upcoming Black Shark smartphone will come equipped with 8GB of RAM. Since the current Black Shark Helo is already available with up to 10GB of RAM, we can expect ‘Skywalker’ to feature up to 12GB of RAM. As you would expect, the smartphone is currently being tested on the Android 9 Pie operating system.
Black Shark’s current Helo smartphone, which was announced in October last year, sports a 6.01-inch AMOLED display with 1080 x 2160 pixels Full HD+ resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor with an Adreno 630 GPU and up to 10GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the smartphone comes in 128GB and 256GB variants. The gaming-focused handset sports a 12MP + 20MP dual-camera setup on the back with 2x optical zoom and Dual Pixel PDAF. On the front is a 20MP selfie snapper with an f/2.2 aperture. Fueling the internals of the Black Shark Helo is a 4000mAh non-removable battery with 18W fast charging support. Connectivity-wise, Black Shark Helo supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, USB Type-C, and 4G VoLTE. For gamers, the smartphone has a two-stage SHARK key for a more enjoyable gaming experience. It also comes with a detachable left gamepad and a right gamepad with a touchpad.
