The BlackBerry KEY2 LE – a toned-down version of the BlackBerry KEY2 smartphone – was showcased at IFA 2018 in August. Today, Optiemus Infracom Limited, the company that sells BlackBerry branded phones in India, has announced that the KEY2 LE will be exclusively available in the country through Amazon India from October 12th.
Design and Display
The BlackBerry KEY2 LE features a polycarbonate body with a textured finish. It features a full-sized QWERTY keyboard and above it is a 4.5-inch IPS LCD screen that sports full HD+ resolution of 1,620 x 1,080 pixels. It offers an aspect ratio of 3:2 and is shielded by 2.5D curved glass.
Keyboard and Software
What sets the BlackBerry KEY2 LE apart from other smartphones is the presence of a user-friendly QWERTY keyboard. The space bar of the device functions as a fingerprint scanner. A Speed Key is available on the keyboard, which when pressed along with any other key on the keyboard, will launch pre-configured apps and functions.
It comes with multiple security features such as DTEK security manager, BlackBerry Locker, Privacy Shade tool, Password Keeper and BlackBerry Hub. The handset comes loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo. Users of the KEY2 LE will be able to launch cloned versions of Facebook Messenger and Instagram for accessing professional and personal accounts on these apps.
Hardware and Camera
The Snapdragon 636 chipset clocked at 1.8GHz powers the BlackBerry KEY2 LE along with 4GB of RAM. It has an internal storage of 64GB. For more storage, it is equipped with a microSD card slot. The 3,000mAh battery of the phone can last for up to 22 hours with mixed usage, claims the company.
For snapping selfies, the BlackBerry KEY2 LE is fitted with a front-facing camera of 8-megapixels. The back panel of the smartphone features 13-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup. The other features of the KEY2 LE include 4G VoLTE, dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB-C, 3.5mm audio jack and a fingerprint scanner.
Pricing and Availability
The BlackBerry KEY2 LE has landed in India with a price tag of Rs 29,990. The handset will be available in a Space Blue color. It will be available on Amazon India from October 12th. The official sales of the phone will begin in the first week of November.
