Bose Frames, the unique new sunglasses that also function as wireless headphones have been launched in India. Interestingly, the glasses are also equipped with audio AR platform. They are joined by Bose Frames Lens collection which is a set of gradient and mirrored lenses that can be easily switched to customise their style and colour.
Bose Frames: features and specifications
The sunglasses come in two shapes – the square Alto and round Rondo. The Bose Frames are lightweight at 45g, block up to 99 percent of UVA/UVB rays and have tinted lenses. The lenses can be taken out and replaced with different options offered by the company. These include Blue Gradient, non-polarised and polarised options for each shape like Mirrored Silver for Alto and Mirrored Rose Gold for Rondo. All of these have gold-plated steel hinges and charging pins as well.
In addition to this, the Bose Frames sunglasses act as wireless headphones. A thin acoustic package is arranged in each arm’s interior to produce audio. A microphone and multi-function button are also placed on the right temple of the wearable. The button can be used for power and pairing, Siri and Google Assistant, calls and commands, or to pause/skip songs. Additional control and software updates are provided by the Bose Connect app.
The sunglasses are also compatible with Bose AR, which detects where a user is and where they are facing using a 9-axis head motion sensor and the GPS from their smartphone. It then provides a layer of audio through Bose AR apps. The Bose Frames are equipped with a Lithium battery which connects to a pogo-pin cable for charging. The battery backup of the wearable is up to 3.5 hours for playback and 12 hours on standby, claims Bose. They can be recharged within a period of two hours and come with a cloth bag and a protective case.
