Reliance disrupted the Indian broadband sector with the launch of its JioFiber FTTH service last year. More recently, the telco launched ‘truly unlimited’ JioFiber plans, starting from as little as Rs 399 per month. With attractive tariffs, several benefits and high-speed data, the new service posed serious threats to the likes of Airtel and BSNL in the country. BSNL has now launched four new broadband plans to take on the competition.
The latest plans from BSNL come in denominations of Rs 449, Rs 799, Rs 999 and Rs 1,499. These will compete directly with Jio’s ‘truly unlimited’ plans priced at Rs 399, Rs 699, Rs 999, Rs 1,499. BSNL has announced that the new plans will be valid for 90 days from October 1st and only in cities “where challenges from the competitors exist.” These plans will be made available starting October 1st.
