BSNL has joined the likes of Airtel, Jio, and Vi to offer COVID-19 relief offers to its customers. The state-run telecom operator has announced free validity extension for its users. Moreover, the telco is offering 100 minutes of free talk time to its users as well. According to the press release shared by the company, this is to help customers who are facing hardships due to ongoing situation.
Pravin Kumar Purwar, CMD, BSNL said, “BSNL is committed to serve its subscribers during this difficult period and we request the subscribers to “Go Digital” for recharging their accounts. Several options available for recharge include MyBSNL mobile app, BSNL website and other popular wallet services. BSNL subscribers can also avail 4% upfront discount with MyBSNL app for recharging BSNL prepaid mobile of their friends and family. We request all BSNL subscribers to follow COVID guidelines and stay safe.”
BSNL COVID-19 offers
BSNL stated that this move is to help its subscribers stay connected during the second wave of COVID-19 and the subsequent lockdown. Additionally, the move will also help users who are stuck because of the cyclones Tauktae and Yaas. In the release, BSNL mentioned that many of its subscribers were left without mobile services because of non-recharge and validity expiry.
For the convenience of such users, BSNL has extended validity till May 31st for free. This way, the BSNL users will continue receiving incoming calls till the end of this month. The free validity extension is being offered to BSNL users whose validity expired on or after April 1st, 2021. Additionally, the free 100 minutes of talk time will allow them to stay in touch with their near and dear ones.
Notably, Airtel and Vi are offering a free Rs 49 prepaid recharge pack and double benefits on Rs 79 prepaid pack. Jio, on the other hand, is offering 300 minutes of talk time per month and a buy one, get one free offer on most recharge plans.
