BSNL is offering free SIM card for a limited period
Notably, all telecom operators in India charge for new SIM cards but the actual price is never disclosed and is included in the first recharge. According to Telecom Talk, BSNL charges Rs 20 from every new user for the SIM card.. However, from November 14th to November 28th, the telco will provide the SIM card for free in all circles where it operates.
In order to be eligible for the free SIM card, the new users have to opt for a minimum first recharge of Rs 100. The state-run telco offers an array of first recharge (FRC) plans, which can be availed at the time of getting a new connection. The new customer can visit their nearest BSNL store to get their free SIM card and also get the FRC done at the same time.
In related news, BSNL is expected to roll out its services pan-India very soon. For those who are unaware, BSNL operates in 20 telecom circles currently with its sister-concern MTNL operating in Delhi and Mumbai. However, MTNL’s license is set to expire in early 2021, post which BSNL is expected to take over the Delhi and Mumbai circles as well.
