India based smartphone maker Intex has debuted another budget-friendly offering in the form of the Intex Indie 5. This smartphone carries a price of Rs. 4,999 and will be a Flipkart exclusive. Let’s find out what this phone has to offer for its target audience.
Display and Design
Similar to most smartphones offered by Intex, the Indie 5 has a 5-inch HD display having a 16:9 display and thick bezels around it. It also has three capacitive keys located underneath the display to navigate through the interface. The display is layered with 2.5D Dragontrail glass though to add to its durability. On the backside, the phone looks pretty plain with just the primary camera module, some branding and the speaker.
Performance and Storage
Underneath the hood, a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor is what runs the show. It is also paired with the Mali-T720 GPU and 1GB of RAM for graphics requirements and multitasking. Since there is a very limited amount of RAM, you might want to keep your multitasking expectations rather realistic. As far as storage is concerned, the Indie 5 will come with 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB through a microSD card.
Camera and Software
On the camera front, the phone has a sensor located on each side. The primary rear-facing camera comprises of an 8-megapixel snapper. On the front, there is another 8-megapixel sensor for capturing good quality selfies and to aid in video calling. On the software front, the phone will run on a dated Android 7.0 Nougat. There is still no official word regarding this device’s software updates that may come in the near future.
Connectivity, Battery and Extra Features
In terms of connectivity, the phone offers all the conventional solutions including Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, 3G and 4G with VoLTE. The battery happens to be the phone’s most attractive feature. It has a massive 4,000mAh unit located underneath its hood and should last well over a day, especially if you consider that it doesn’t have to supply to a power hungry display.
The Indie 5 from Intex does come with some handy features such as a QR code scanner and the Gaana app built in. It also adopts SwiftKey as its default keyboard.
The Intex Indie 5 will be offered in 2 colour variants viz. Black and Champagne.
