BYD Atto 3 specs and features leak ahead of India launch

  • BYD is expected to unveil the all-new Atto 3 electric SUV in India later this month
  • While pricing information is scarce, we expect it to cost more than the Tata Nexon EV Max
  • This leaked brochure also sheds light on the performance aspect of the new Atto 3

We already know a fair bit about the imminent arrival of the BYD Atto 3 in India. A new leaked brochure has now revealed the upcoming electric car’s features in its entirety, leaving nothing to the imagination. BYD is not particularly new to the Indian EV scene, with the company recently making the e6 EV available to private customers in the country after being exclusive to commercial customers.

The leaked brochure comes courtesy of Team-BHP, revealing that the Indian version of the Atto 3 will be 4,455mm long, 1,615 in height, and 1,875mm wide. Meanwhile, the wheelbase is said to be 2,720mm. Furthermore, BYD’s latest offering will support a minimum luggage capacity of 440L, while the ground clearance is mentioned to be 175mm.

BYD Atto 3 variants in India

The China-based manufacturer will sell the new EV in two variants — one with a 49.92 kWh battery and another with a 60.48 kWh pack underneath. The latter can run for up to 480 km on a single charge (NEDC) while the 49.92 kWh version should deliver up to 410 km of range.

Expectedly, the EV will also feature BYD’s Blade Battery technology. The overall weight of the car is estimated to be 1,680 kg for the entry-level version and 1,750 kg for the Atto 3 bearing the 60.48 kWh battery pack.

BYD will only offer the Atto 3 in one motor configuration, capable of delivering 201 bhp of max power and 310 Nm of torque. The Atto 3 can accelerate from 0-100 kmph within 7.3 seconds, the brochure says.

The leaked brochure also reveals the presence of a CC2 charging port, enabling DC charging at 70 kW or 80 kW depending on the Atto 3 model. In terms of safety, the Atto 3 includes seven airbags, hill descent control, ABS, ESP, TPMS (tire-pressure monitoring system), an electronic parking brake, and a 360-degree camera.

Features like high-beam assist, heated ORVMs, portable car key, a PM2.5 air filter inside, and a panoramic sunroof are also available with the Atto 3. There’s also going to be a 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen which can support either Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

BYD Atto 3 India release date, price

As per current reports, the Atto 3 will be officially revealed for the Indian market later this month. While the cost is still pretty much a mystery, we expect it to cost between Rs 30 to 40 lakhs at the time of release. While this would make it significantly costlier than the Tata Nexon EV, the inclusion of ultra-premium features would certainly justify the cost.
