Dell unveiled its latest 2-in-1 laptop dubbed Dell Latitude 5285 at the ongoing CES 2017 in Las Vegas. The product is portrayed simply as a standalone tablet. However, it also features clip-on keyboard with a touchpad for typing and navigation, similar to what Microsoft has been doing with its Surface Pro line. That said, Dell’s latest Latitude 5285 resembles Microsoft Surface Pro to a great extent, considering similarities in terms of the design.
Dell Latitude 5285 delivers a 12.5-inch touch display with 1920 x 1080 pixels Full HD resolution and Corning Glass protection. The display is one such factor where Dell 5285 is miles apart from Surface Pro. It comes with a high-res 2736 x 1824 screen. Dell 5285 packs in a seventh-gen Intel Core processors with Intel HD Graphics 620 — similar to Microsoft Surface Pro 4, again.
Dell Latitude 5285 comes with 1TB SSD for storage and 16GB RAM for real-time processing. On the connectivity front, it offers two USB Type-C ports and one USB 3.0 port, a memory (microSD) card reader, and a connector for using a keyboard. It also offers one Micro SIM slot on select models. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It weighs 910g and measures 292 x 208.8 x 9.76 mm.
In terms of the security features, Dell Latitude 5285 embraces an optional FIPS 201 Smartcard reader for access control and authentication. In addition, it includes a touch fingerprint reader, NFC, and more. As far as the pricing is concerned, Dell 5285 costs $899 (approximately Rs 61,500). It will go on sale starting February 28.
