Xiaomi has launched a new color variant of its radical Mi MIX smartphone. The Mix was launched last year and was said to be limited production handset. The smartphone is still exclusive to the Chinese market and we can expect the trend to follow with the white version as well.
At CES, Hugo Barra, Global VP of Xiaomi launched the new colour variant stating that it will make way to its home market soon. The Mi MIX stands out in the market thanks to its bezel-less design. The phone sports a 6.4-inch display with a resolution of 2040 x 1080 pixels. The phone also has a ceramic back which increases the appeal and the durability of the smartphone.
The Mi MIX is powered by a Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor clocked at 2.35GHz. The phone comes in two variants, one with 4GB RAM/128GB storage and the other with 6GB RAM/256GB storage. The phone runs on Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It has a back mounted fingerprint scanner which can be used to quickly unlock the phone.
The MIX has a 16-megapixel primary camera with PDAF and a dual LED setup. This camera is capable of 4K video recording. On the front, the phone has a 5-megapixel selfie camera which is positioned on the bottom chin. The top of the phone does not have a speaker grill as the phone uses a piezoelectric ceramic acoustic speaker. The sensors usually placed in the top bezel of most phones are replaced with ultrasonic sensors under the display. The phone has a 4400mAh battery and uses a USB Type-C port for charging.
