ASUS has announced a new line of premium and gaming laptops at CES 2022. These laptops drive power from the latest Intel Core 12th-gen processors, AMD Ryzen 6000 Series processors and onboards NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, and AMD Radeon RX 6000S Series GPUs, respectively. At the hybrid event being held in Las Vegas, Asus introduced a total of over 10 laptops from the ASUS ROG series, ASUS Zenbook series, and ASUS TUF series.
These new laptops also introduce new technologies in the gaming market, such as the Ampere architecture, 2nd generation RT Cores for ray tracing and 3rd generation Tensor Cores for DLSS and artificial intelligence. The company claims that these new gaming laptops can deliver up to 100 frames per second at 1440p resolution. Below is a quick overview of these laptops, along with their specifications and features.
ASUS ROG Strix SCAR, and Strix G: specifications and features
Starting with the ROG Strix series, the event introduced two ROG Strix series laptops – ROG Strix SCAR and ROG Strix G. The ROG Strix SCAR comes with 15-inch and 17-inch displays and offers PS-level display choices – QHD 240Hz, Full HD 300Hz, and QHD 165Hz. Under the hood, the laptop is equipped with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU and DDR5 4800MHz RAM. The additional slot for PCIe 4.0 x4 supports fast-loading speeds and offers plenty of multitasking memory.
As for the ROG Strix G, the laptop has two variants – ROG Strix G15 and ROG Strix G17. These machines are designed for gamers as it uses an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processor and a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU. While the G15 offers 300Hz Full HD and 165Hz QHD display options, the G17 has a 360Hz Full HD and 240Hz QHD resolutions to choose from. Both the laptops have a 90Wh battery and support 100W Type-C charging. The ROG Strix G15 and ROG Strix G17 come with two colour options – Volt Green and Electro Punk.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14, G15, and M16: specifications and features
The ASUS ROG Zephyrus series have three laptop variants – ROG Zephyrus G14, ROG Zephyrus G15, and ROG Zephyrus M16. Starting with the ROG Zephyrus G14, the laptop comes with an AMD Ryzen 9 Series processor and AMD Radeon RX 6000S Series mobile graphics. The ROG Zephyrus G14 also features the ROG’s brand-new Nebula display that provides 120Hz at QHD with 500nits of peak brightness.
One of the key points for the entire ROG Zephyrus laptop series is the integration of ROG Intelligent Cooling technology, which supports sustainable performance from the laptop. Under the hood, the laptop has DDR5 RAM and 1TB PCIe SSD storage. The laptops also offer a 91 percent screen-to-body ratio, giving better viewing angles for the users. As for the colour options, the ROG Zephyrus G14 series laptops come with Eclipse Grey or Moonlight White. These laptops offer two-way AI noise cancelling, WiFi 6E, and a small form factor making these machines portable and easy to carry around.
The ROG Zephyrus G15 comes with AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS Processor, and as for the GPU, it has a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GDDR6 graphic card. The laptop comes with a pre-installed Windows 11 operating system and offers a 15-inch QHD display. As for memory options, ROG Zephyrus G15 supports up to 32GB DDR5 4800MHz RAM sticks and offers a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD for quick boot and multitasking. For sound enthusiasts, the laptop has a 4x 2W woofer with Smart Amp Technology powered by Dolby Atmos. Like most of the laptops in the ROG Zephyrus series, the ROG Zephyrus G15 also offers AI noise-cancelling technology, WIFI 6E, and a 90Wh battery.
The Zephyrus M16 is the last gaming laptop in the ROG Zephyrus series. The next-gen gaming laptop has a 16-inch QHD display and supports Dolby Vision for a smoother viewing experience. It comes with a 12th Gen Intel Core i9-12900H Processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GDDR6 16GB GPU for AAA gaming. The ROG Zephyrus M16 supports up to 48GB DDR5 4800MHz RAM and a PCIe 4.0 slot for up to 2TB SSD. It has up to 10 ports for USB, Micro SD, HDMI 2.0b RJ45, and 1 DC-in slot.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16: specifications and features
The ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 is the flagship gaming laptop in the ROG Zephyrus series. It features a dual-display system that is heavily inspired by its predecessor, ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE GX551. The laptop features a 4-directional hinge that uplifts the secondary display and slides it to meet the primary display, making the screen look bigger when combined. As for the secondary display, ASUS calls it the Dual-Spec panel. This secondary screen can switch between 4K 120Hz and Full HD 240Hz resolutions, giving space for creativity and gaming.
As for the laptop’s specs, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 features the ROG’s Nebula HDR display for both screens. The primary 16:10 panel supports a refresh rate of 165Hz while the Dual Spec Panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the laptop derives its power from an AMD Ryzen 9 6980HX CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU. Like the ROG Zephyrus G14, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 also features the TROG Intelligent Cooling system, which uses a Liquid Metal Conductonaut Extreme to decrease the CPU temperatures during peak performance.
Being a gaming laptop, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 onboards a large trackpad with a full keyboard setup. The keys offer 1.7mm of travel and individual RGBs for each. It also provides a two-way AI Noise Cancellation, Dolby Atmos sound system and an upgraded smaller footprint than its previous generation models.
ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED: specifications and features
The ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED features two foldable OLED displays – 17.3-inch and 12.5-inch. The laptop comes with 12th Gen Intel Core i7 U-Series processors and pre-installed Windows 11 Pro and Windows 11 Home operating systems. It uses Intel Iris Xe graphics and onboards 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM sticks. As for the storage, the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED has a 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD slot for keeping files, folders and other data. The laptop comes with WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, 5MP camera, 3D Noise Reduction and 75Wh battery.
The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED also has new technologies like its HD camera with IR function, Intel Visual Sensing Controller, and colour sensors that automatically adjust temperature and brightness. Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition: specifications and features
The ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition comes with three different Intel processors configurations – 12th Gen Intel Core i9 H-Series processors, 12th Gen Intel Core i7 H-Series processors, and 12th Gen Intel Core i5 H-Series processors. The laptop has a 14-inch touch display with slim bezels for a better viewing experience. It uses Windows 11 Pro and Windows 11 Home as the operating system and comes with 8GB/16GB/32GB LPDDR5 onboard memory options.
ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition has the latest Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, a 720p HD camera, and Cortana/Alexa voice-recognition support. Under the hood, the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition comes equipped with Intel Iris X e graphics and two storage options – 512GB HDD and 1 TB PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 SSD. The laptop weighs only 1.4 kg and derives power from a 63Wh 3-cell lithium-polymer battery.
ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED, Zenbook Pro Duo 15 OLED, and Zenbook 14X OLED: specifications and features
The next laptop from the new Zenbook series is the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED. The laptop comes with two Intel processors configurations – 12th Gen Intel Core i7 P-series processors and 12th Gen Intel Core i5 P-series processors. As for the display options, you can expect three different choices – 16:10 OLED NanoEdge 90Hz touchscreen, OLED NanoEdge 90Hz non-touch and 16:10 IPS NanoEdge 60Hz non-touch.
As for the laptop itself, the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED comes pre-loaded with Windows 11 Home/ Windows 11 Pro operating system and integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics. It uses 16GB LPDDR5 onboard memory and 512 GB PCIe Gen4 SSD storage systems for its day to day tasks. The additional 1 TB PCIe Gen4 SSD supports faster boot time and smoother multitasking. The laptop has WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, 2 Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports, 1 HDMI, 1 USB 3.2, 1 microSD and one audio jack port for connecting devices and peripherals. The ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED uses a 75Wh battery and weighs 1.39 kg only.
Coming to the second laptop from the series, the Zenbook Pro Duo 15 OLED is making a comeback in 2022 with a brand new 12th Generation Intel Core i9 H-series processor. The base model of the laptop is the same as its predecessor, but these new upgrades account for better performance and multitasking. The laptop is also upgraded with Thunderbolt 4 ports and WiFi 6E connectivity.
The last laptop from the Zenbook series, the Zenbook 14X OLED, now comes with an upgraded 12th Generation Intel Core i7 P-series and Intel Core i9 H-series (UX5401 only) processor. As for the graphic card, the laptop has two options – a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce MX550 (UX5400 only) and an integrated Intel Iris X e graphics (UX5401 only). Like most of its counterparts, the Zenbook 14X OLED also uses the latest WiFi 6E connectivity and upgraded features for 2022.
ASUS TUF Gaming F15, F17: specifications and features
The ASUS TUF Gaming F15 and F17 are the newest models from the ASUS TUF Gaming series laptops. These gaming machines come with 12th Generation Intel Core i7-12700H processors and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 GDDR6 8GB GPUs. The laptop uses a 15.6-inch QHD display with three screen resolutions – QHD (2560 x 1440) 165 Hz, FHD (1920 x 1080) 300 Hz, and FHD (1920 x 1080) 144 Hz.
Under the hood, both of these laptops offer up to 16 GB DDR5 4800 MHz memory and 1 TB of PCIe 3.0 SSD with an empty M.2 NVMe SSD storage slot. Since these are gaming laptops, users can expect a backlit chiclet keyboard with 1.7 mm key travel, a full number pad, and four hotkeys options. The two-way AI Noise Cancelation, built-in array microphone, and Dolby Atmos add more features to the device.
As for the connectivity options, the laptops have WiFi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, 1 HDMI 2.0b port, 1 Thunderbolt 4 port, 1 USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, 1 Audio combo jack, and 1 Kensington port. The ASUS TUF Gaming F15 and F17 weigh 2.2 kg and 2.6 kg, respectively. Both the devices procure power from the 90Wh and 56Wh batteries located at the back of the laptop.
ASUS TUF Dash F15: specifications and features
The ASUS TUF Dash F15 was first launched in 2021 as a thin and light form gaming laptop. Now, the laptop is upgraded for 2022 with a brand new 20 mm chassis. The ASUS TUF Dash F15 comes with 12th Gen Intel Core i7-12650H processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 GDDR6 8GB GPU. It comes with a QHD (2560 x 1440) 165 Hz IPS-level panel with adaptive sync, adaptable to FHD (1920 x 1080) 300 Hz.
The laptop supports up to 16GB DDR5 4800 MHz RAM and 1 TB PCIe 3.0 SSD with an empty M.2 NVMe™ SSD slot as storage options. As for the laptop connectivity, the ASUS TUF Dash F15 comes with a 1 USB 3.2 Gen 2 port, 1 Thunderbolt 4 port, 1 RJ45, I/O Ports 1 DC-in jack, built-in array microphone, Bluetooth v5.2 and WiFi 6. The laptop offers a Backlit-styled chiclet keyboard, four hotkeys, ten numeric keys, and a 1.7 mm travel distance for hardcore gamers. It gets power from the 76Wh battery and weighs only 2kg.
