The Indian government recently banned a total of 59 apps under Section 69A of the IT Act. These apps were banned citing the reason that they were, “stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users’ data in an unauthorized manner to servers which have locations outside India.” The list not only included the popular short video sharing platform TikTok, but also two of the most popular games – Clash of Kings – CoK and Mobile Legends – Bang Bang.

Why India banned 59 Chinese apps
India’s Ministry of Electronics and IT released a circular banning a total of 59 apps of Chinese origin in India. Apart from Clash of Kings and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, the government has also banned the video sharing app, TikTok. Popular document scanning app CamScanner, file sharing app SHAREit, Xiaomi’s Mi Community app and Mi Video Call apps, UC Browser and more also got the boot in India.
Following the orders of the Indian government, Google has already blocked all 59 Chinese apps on the Play Store, which means Android users can no longer install these apps on their smartphones. As of now, there’s no official confirmation from Apple regarding the availability of these apps on the App Store.
