ColorOS 13 global launch in August
The publication has learned through an industry source that the global launch of ColorOS 13 will be conducted this month. Previous reports have claimed that it will be in the first half of August.
OPPO has recently confirmed that it will be launching the OPPO Watch 3 series, the OPPO Band 2, and a smart camera on August 10th, 2022, in China. It is unclear whether the company will be using the same platform to announce the ColorOS 13 for China and other markets.
OPPO Reno 8 series ColorOS update timeline
According to the publication, the Reno 8 series will be one of the first OPPO phones to receive the ColorOS 13 update based on Android 13. Hence, it appears that OPPO may release an official confirmation of it later this month.
ColorOS 13 beta released
The ColorOS beta version based on Android 13 has been released for the OPPO Find N foldable smartphone (only in China), the OPPO Find X5, the Find X5 Pro, and the OnePlus 10 Pro (only in China). The beta testing is only available for 1,000 users of these smartphones. The good thing is that there will be several rounds, which will allow other users to receive the beta update later.
To enrol a device for the beta update, one needs to carry out a backup of data. Next, the Find N needs to be updated to A.20/A.22, the Find X5 to A.18, and the Find X5 Pro to A.20/A.21. Next, navigate to Settings > About device > Trail versions and fill in the required details to apply for a slot in the public beta test. Once it is done, the ColorOS 13 beta will be available for download and installation. Since it is not a stable version, beta users are likely to encounter issues like bugs, crashes, forced restarts, and more. Also, banking apps are not working on the beta update yet.
