Reliance Jio has been grabbing headlines recently for the unlimited usage offers on their preview SIM cards. The telecom provider started the preview SIM with its LYF smartphones and offered unlimited 4G data usage and calls.
The preview was extended to Samsung smartphones where users of high end devices could avail a Jio SIM. Reliance also offered the same to new HP Laptop users, giving them an option to purchase a JioFi 2 hotspot device for a discounted price of Rs.2899.
While getting a SIM card for the general users was an uphill task, it is about to change. We have news from our sources that a Jio SIM can soon be availed by anyone with a new smartphone costing over Rs 10,000. The offer will be available around the weekend leading to Independence Day. The other perks of the preview offer may still be applicable for the new SIM where users can access unlimited data and calls for 90 days. This could very well be the announcement expected from Reliance on 15th August.
We are pretty confident with the news since SIM cards that were locked to LYF phones earlier now work with any 4G phone. It seems like Jio has been slowly opening up the network to all 4G smartphones. If you have a 4G smartphone, now would be the right time to get the documents in check for the Jio SIM. Also, here is a list of smartphones that are completely compatible with Jio VoLTE in India.
