Comio, the India based brand has launched a new smartphone in the entry-level segment dubbed as the Comio C1 Pro. The phone will carry an affordable price tag of Rs. 5,599. Does it justify its price? Let’s find out.
Display and Design
On the front, the smartphone rocks a 5-inch HD display having a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The display features a set of nifty software features like Split Screen and Pop Touch, courtesy of the software the phone runs. The company also claims to have made the user interface simple to use for most users. On the design front, the phone feels durable to use and should last a substantial amount of time if used with care. The device will be shipped in three colour variants viz. Metallic grey, Sunrise gold and Royal black.
The rear camera has an 8-megapixel sensor which is accompanied by an LED flash for low-light pictures. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel snapper that uses the screen flash feature for low-light selfies. The front camera can also be used for face unlock. For a phone in this price range, this is a good feature to have. We will have to see how well it works though.
Performance & Software
The Comio C1 Pro runs on a quad-core 64-bit MediaTek chipset. It is further coupled with 1.5GB of RAM, which is decent for day to day use. Expecting anything more than that would be difficult to deliver by the phone. On the software side, the phone comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. It has some additional features such as Intruder selfies which clicks pictures of people who try to unlock your phone without your permission. Another useful feature is Bike mode that lets users turn off all notifications and inform the other person that currently the user is riding a bike and will respond later.
In terms of storage, it comes with 16GB of internal storage. However, it has a dedicated microSD card slot so you can expand the storage up to 128GB.
Battery & Connectivity
As far as the battery goes, the Comio C1 Pro draws its power from a 2,500mAh unit located underneath its hood. This battery isn’t the largest around in the market and you can certainly find a better alternative in smartphones like the Xiaomi Redmi 5A which features a 3,000mAh unit. On the connectivity front, the phone offers features like Dual 4G VoLTE which enables you to run two VoLTE enabled SIM cards simultaneously. Apart from that, it also has a dedicated SD card slot, so you don’t have to sacrifice a SIM in lieu of expanded storage. It also offers support for other conventional connectivity solutions like WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.
Other than the usual set of features, the phone also offers some unique advantages. The first of which is that the phone will be covered under warranty for 1 year + 100 extra days. There is also an option to replace the phone within 30 days of purchase. Apart from that, Comio also offers an upgrade program. Under this program, the company assures 40% return on the old COMIO phone (not more than 12 months old). It will be applicable if you are looking to buy another Comio smartphone. Jio also offers a Rs. 2200 cashback in the form of 44 vouchers of Rs. 50 each.
With that said, the phone is a hit and miss but comes with some good value for money features. There’s definitely better options available in the market that you can explore. If you are, however, a Comio fan, you can buy this device from retail stores across the country as well as leading online platforms.
