Confirmed: Jio Extends its Welcome Offer Till 31st March 2017

On: December 1, 2016

In a press conference held today, Mukesh Ambani surprised the whole nation by extending all free Jio services till 31st of March 2017. As there were already rumours flowing on the internet regarding the extension of Jio’s Welcome Offer till 31st March and now Jio has officially confirmed this.

Jio Happy New Year Offer

All the current 52 million customers of Jio who are currently enjoying the Welcome Offer will be switched to the – “Happy New Year Offer” starting on 1st of January 2017. With this New Year offer, all the users will able to enjoy free services from Jio including 4G net, voice calls, and SMS till 31st March 2017. He also added that the new customers registering for the Jio on or after 4th of December will be under this new offer from day one.

Under the Happy New Year Offer that will commence for all users from 1st Jan 2017,  the FUP (Fair Usage Policy) will now be 1GB per day. The current Jio Welcome Offer has a Fair Usage Policy of 4GB per day. Once users hit the FUP limit they will be restricted to a max speed of 128 kbps.

We think this might have a positive impact on the Jio speeds as data heavy users will hit the FUP earlier taking them off the network. So with the Data congestion going down we can expect better speeds from the Jio Network starting from Jan 2017. The new usage policy of 1GB/day is still significant considering it allows the user to have around 30GB of data for the month.

Jio’s still offers unlimited data at night, allowing users to access unused network capacity. Calls on the Reliance Jio network are entirely free and are not affected by the change in the offer. Reliance is working with other network operators to improve points of interconnect.

Jio has also introduced the MNP (Mobile Number Portability) so the users can now switch to Jio network without changing their current mobile number. Mukesh Ambani also added that Jio will now deliver the Jio SIMs to your home.

Here is the complete procedure to get the Jio SIM delivered to your home.
