CES 2020: Coolpad Legacy 5G with Snapdragon 765 and 48MP dual cameras launched

Once a well-known brand in China, Coolpad has lost out to other brands over the last few years. It now mainly caters to entry-level and midrange market. The company is known for selling its phones in global markets including the US. At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2020, Coolpad showcased the Legacy 5G which is the first 5G phone from the company. Priced under $400 (~Rs. 28,800), the Coolpad Legacy 5G is packed with decent specs like the latest Snapdragon 765 chipset, a 48-megapixel camera and a large-sized battery. It seems to be the successor to the Coolpad Legacy smartphone from last year.

The Coolpad Legacy 5G comes with a Snapdragon 765 chipset and 4,000mAh battery

Measuring 165 x 77 x 9.5mm and weighing 195 grams, the glass bodied Coolpad Legacy 5G houses a 6.53-inch IPS LCD display. The waterdrop notch screen produces full HD+ resolution and supports HDR10 content. The notch is home to its 16-megapixel selfie camera.

The rear side of the Coolpad Legacy 5G has a fingerprint scanner towards the centre. Above it is the LED flash and a dual camera setup. It features a primary 48-megapixel camera that is accompanied by an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens .

The 7nm Snapdragon 765 mobile platform along with an Adreno 620 GPU and Snapdragon X52 5G modem powers the Legacy 5G. The chipset is coupled with 4GB of RAM. It is equipped with UFS 2.1 64GB storage. For additional storage, the smartphone is equipped with a dedicated microSD card slot.

The Coolpad Legacy 5G runs Android 10 overlaid with the company’s custom UI. The smartphone is backed by a 4,000mAh battery that carries support for 18W fast charging through USB-C. Other features that are available on the Legacy 5G include THX tuned audio, face unlock, single SIM card, dual-frequency GNSS, Bluetooth 5.0 and a 3.5mm headphone slot.

The Legacy 5G will be priced under $400 (~Rs. 28,800). The smartphone is expected to release in the US by Q2 this year. There is no word on the availability of the smartphone in India.
