The OTT platforms Amazon Prime Video and Simply South will stream the Kollywood film “Dada.” Indian audiences can watch the movie on Amazon Prime Video on a subscription video-on-demand or regular subscription basis. The movie will also stream on Simply South worldwide, excluding India. The film premiered on both platforms on March 10, 2023.

The film focuses on single parenting. Dada revolves around a father who is taking care of his son. It sends a clear message that parenthood is gender-neutral. The movie was primarily shot in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is debutant filmmaker Ganesh K. Babu’s film. Aparna Das, who made her acting debut in a small role in Beast (2022), is the female lead protagonist in Dada.

Final-year college students Sindhu (Aparna Das) and Manikandan (Kavin) fall in love and end up as accidental parents without marriage. Because of Manikandan’s doomed attitude, the lovers part ways, and he is left with his son Adithya’s responsibility. He faces challenges along the way, and one fine day, destiny brings Sindhu back into his life.
Times of India ETimes gave the film 3.5 out of 5 stars. And in their review, they wrote that the film is a well-written drama with the right mix of love, emotion, and comedy. The Hindu called the film a wholesome entertainer, despite a few missteps. Sruthi Ganapathy Raman of Film Companion in her review of Dada mentioned that Kavin is pitch-perfect in this fatherhood drama. India Today, in their review, called Kavin and Aparna Das’ film thoughtful.
