Double XL Review

While the critics and the audience appreciated the film’s intention and related to the subject, questions about the script and poor execution have been raised. The women have been shown coming from smaller towns and with big dreams which they wish to fulfil. Aspects like age, size, body shaming, and more have been tackled as well, which people can relate to, considering the times today focus on beauty more than talent. Social validation in terms of looks has become a priority, and the team has strived to deliver the same.

Reviewers have pointed out the unnecessary distractions and character sketches that are disappointing. The writing is also said to be flawed and hotchpotch as coincidences, struggle, emotions, shaming and societal norms, dreams, and more have not been stitched well. Performances, however, especially the role by Huma Qureshi, have been appreciated.
