In an exclusive tip, we just came to know that the Chinese smartphone maker Vivo is launching the Y66 in India for a price of Rs 14,980. The phone was first unveiled in China in December last year. The company has already sent out the media invites for the event which is scheduled on today i.e., 17th March.
The Vivo Y66 sports a 5.5-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and 2.5D curved glass. The display also gets Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. Under the hood, it is equipped with an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor clocked at 1.5GHz. However, in China the device is powered by Snapdragon 430 processor. The phone also gets 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which is further expandable up to 128GB with a MicroSD card.
Talking about camera section, the Vivo Y66 features a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture lens. On front, it sports a 5-megapixel snapper for capturing selfies. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow wrapped under Funtouch OS 3.0 and packs in a 3000mAh battery. The company is also offering free 6-month Saavn premium subscription with the phone.
Looking at the price and specs of the phone, it looks grossly overpriced considering the fact that we have options like Redmi Note 4, Moto g5 Plus available in same price bracket. But at the same time, Vivo has deep roots in the offline market which makes it easy for the company to sell phones at this prices.
