One of the major highlights of the OnePlus 5T was its blazing fast face unlock feature, which was soon shared with the OnePlus 5 as well. This was adapted by OnePlus after it was introduced on the iPhone X as FaceID. Recently, an update was rolled out to even the OnePlus 3 and 3T to make the phones capable of unlocking using the user’s face.
To recall, the OnePlus 3 was launched in June 2016 while the 3T came out in November of the same year. Both devices still hold good when it comes to specifications and performance. OnePlus is known to embed a close to stock Android operating system on its smartphones, dubbed as OxygenOS. This allows the company to roll out updates faster than other OEMs.
If you are using a OnePlus 3 or 3T watch out for the software update section, you should see an update pop up soon enough. The software version that will bring Face Unlock is OxygenOS 5.0.3.
That being said, the update is being rolled out in phases and will reach smartphones slowly over time. In addition to the Face Unlock feature, the update will also bring the May Security Patch, a redesigned shelf and a new Weather widget.
