OnePlus has been on a roll and has taken their mantra of Never Settling a bit seriously after releasing the new OxygenOS Beta Update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. This update will bring some of the features currently available to the flagship devices of 2017. Well done, OnePlus! Let’s have a look at what this update has to offer.
To recall, the OnePlus 3 and 3T have already been updated to Android Oreo (unlike the 5 and 5T). This beta update gives us a glimpse of what more we can expect. For starters, the users demanded and the brand delivered. Yes, Face Unlock will now also be available for the OnePlus 3 and 3T after this update. Considering that the company achieved this through software tweaks, it made sense to make it available for all of their recent devices.
In addition to that, the new update also brings support for VoLTE for users with an Airtel 4G SIM card. Airtel has been one of the newest contenders in the 4G VoLTE race after Jio. With the help of it, users can experience better call quality and reduced call connection times. As of now, Airtel VoLTE was available on a handful of devices, unlike Jio which is now widespread across all phones capable of supporting the technology. Nevertheless, if you are an Airtel user, this update definitely brings you good news.
Apart from that, the update also offers patches for security loopholes and squashes some existing bugs. Here’s the whole changelog of the update:

If you have previously flashed an Open Beta build on your OnePlus 3/3T, this update will appear automatically. However, if you are running on a stable update, you will have to manually download and flash the update package. The Open Beta version 30 which comes with the features isn’t currently available through the company’s official website. If you are really eager for it, you can flash an earlier Open Beta build (example Open Beta 29) and then search for the OTA update on the phone. This, however, is not recommended as the software may contain bugs that could hamper your normal use.
It is best to wait it out as OnePlus irons out all the pressing bugs and issues and rolls out a stable update that will bring these features to your device. Stay tuned as we bring more such news for you.
