FASTag Banks List: Details of All Banks and Fintech Apps Providing FASTag with Customer Care Numbers

You may have been using a FASTag label on your vehicle. It automatically lifts the barrier at toll plazas on highways where a device, using electromagnetic waves (RFID), tracks the label and identifies your vehicle. It deducts the required amount from your FASTag account and lets you zip across highways without a hitch – mostly.

Thus, the FASTag tag is used for making toll payments directly from your linked prepaid, savings or current account. That is what that label on your vehicle’s windscreen does to help you drive through toll plazas without stopping for physical payments.

However, FASTag is specific to a particular vehicle. It is not transferrable to another. You may purchase FASTag from any bank which is a member of the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) programme. But you need to ensure enough funds are available in your linked or prepaid account. Recharge and top-ups can be done in easy steps. In the absence of adequate balance, your FASTag may be ‘blacklisted’, and you’ll have to stop and pay cash.

What is NETC

The NETC system was developed to create a composite interoperable ecosystem. It was developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to meet the electronic tolling requirements in the country. With this programme, there is an interoperable secure framework across the country where no cash transaction is needed.

The system is based on a simple and robust framework that is efficient and transparent. And while securing your exit seamlessly, it helps avoid traffic congestion at toll plazas and unnecessary haranguing over cash exchange.

How to check FASTag balance

There are several ways to check your FASTag balance.

My FASTag app

My FASTag application

  • By using ‘My FASTag’ app: You can simply download this app on your Android smartphone or iPhone.
  • By using the website: FASTags are issued not only by banks but also by Amazon, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) offices, and even at certain petrol pumps. In order to check the balance using the web, you have to visit the internet page of your issuing agency.
  • By using SMS: If your mobile number is registered with the FASTag issuing agency, you will receive SMS services with information and updates.
  • By calling the customer care helpline of your issuing agency or bank.

Is FASTag mandatory

It is mandatory for all four-wheeled vehicles in India to have a FASTag label installed. As mentioned earlier, the tag assists you in passing through all toll plazas operated by the National Highways Authority of India without stopping to pay in cash. This system also helps in reducing traffic bottlenecks on busy highways.
