Fitbit Charge 5 has launched in India. It succeeds the Fitbit Charge 4 that debuted in April last year. One of the major upgrades that can be seen on the Charge 5 is that sports a colour AMOLED touchscreen instead of the grayscale OLED panel that was made available on the previous model.

The Charge 5 comes with a six-month subscription of Fitbit Premium that offers a feature called Daily Readiness Score. It can tell whether the user’s body is ready for workout or rest based on the score deduced from heart rate, sleep data, and fitness fatigue. Accordingly, it can suggest high-intensity experiences, yoga, or rest. In addition, the Charge 5 also offers up to 7 days of battery life, an EDA sensor and ECG.

Fitbit Charge 5 features a colour AMOLED touchscreen

The Fitbit Charge 5 fitness tracker has a 1.05-inch colour AMOLED touchscreen that offers a peak brightness of 450 nits and an always-on mode. The company claims that it is twofold brighter than Charge 4. As far as the build of the Charge 5 is concerned, its chassis is made from glass, aluminium, and resin. In addition, it comes with a silicone strap. The Charge 5 is water resistance up to 50 meters.

The Charge 5 takes around two hours to charge completely. Once charged, it can last for up to 7 days. It offers connectivity features such as Bluetooth with Google Fast Pair support, GPS, GLONASS, and NFC. It is equipped with health tracking features like an optical heart rate sensor, SpO2 sensor, skin temperature sensor, goal-based exercise modes, automatic exercise detection, real-time active zone minutes tracking, breathing rate, menstrual cycle tracking, stress management, EDA scanning for measuring the body’s response to stress.

The smart band is compatible with devices running Android 8.0 above and iOS 12.2 higher. It comes with support for others such as custom watch faces, notifications for calls/messages, Do Not Disturb mode, a Smart Wake Alarm, and Fitbit Pay for contactless payments (in certain markets). The company will be releasing the ECG app in the near future for Charge 5 users. The PDF report generated by the app can be shared with doctors to diagnose atrial fibrillation.

Fitbit Charge 5 price in India and availability

The Charge 5 fitness band is priced at Rs 14,999 in India, and it comes in colours like Graphite / Black, Platinum / Steel Blue, and Soft Gold / Lunar White. It will be available by fall this year in the country.
