Fitbit Versa 2, Aria Air smart scale and Premium subscription service launched in India

Fitbit has announced the second iteration its Versa smartwatch range today. The Fitbit Versa 2 is laced with the Amazon Alexa voice assistant, AMOLED display panel and a 24/7 heart rate monitoring feature. The company has also announced a Fitbit Versa 2 Special Edition along with the classic variant. The Aria Air smart scale and Fitbit Premium subscription service have also been introduced in the market.

Fitbit Versa 2: specifications and features

The Versa 2 features a touchscreen colour AMOLED display panel with an Always-On feature and Gorilla Glass 3. It is water-resistant up to 50 metres, and comes with built-in Alexa that can help in setting alarms, checking the weather, controlling smart home devices and more via voice commands. Users can also connect the watch to their wireless Bluetooth headphones to stream music. The Fitbit Versa 2 can be used to control playlists on Spotify and display push notifications when the phone is nearby.

The wearable houses more than 15 exercise modes and provides post-workout summaries as well. The On-Screen Workout feature lets users receive coaching for each move, while All-Day Activity tracks steps, heart rate, distance, calories burned, floors climbed, active minutes, hourly activity and stationary time. The smartwatch is also laced with features like Dashboard to set goals/track progress on the Fitbit app, customisable clock faces, sleep tracking, SmartTrack to automatically record select exercises, Female Health and Guided Breathing sessions.

The Fitbit Versa 2 is further equipped with a lithium-polymer battery that can last for up to five days. It needs two hours to be recharged completely. The watch sports an ambient light sensor, 3-axis accelerometer, vibration motor, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, NFC, built-in microphone and a vibration motor. The watch will support Fitbit Premium, a subscription service that costs Rs 819 per month or Rs 6,999 per year, that will roll out from next month. It will provide consumers with customised programs, advanced sleep features, personal insights, thousands of workouts, new challenges, health reports and more.

Fitbit Versa 2: price and availability

The Fitbit Versa 2 comes with a classic wristband in 180mm and 220mm sizes, while its Special Edition will ship with an additional nylon woven wristband in both sizes. The base variant is priced at Rs 20,999 and the special edition would sell for Rs 22,999. The watch will start selling from September 15th across Reliance Digital, Croma, Helios and other major retailers offline. It will also be available on Flipkart and Amazon.

The Fitbit Aria Air is a Bluetooth smart scale that tracks a consumer’s weight and syncs it with the Fitbit app to calculate BMI, heart rate and sleep/nutrition data. The scale is compatible with all Fitbit devices and the Premium subscription service. Consumers can create a plan on the Fitbit app and set goals for weight loss. With Fitbit Premium, they can gain access to a two week program which inspires them to reduce their calorie intake. Aria Air can also be synced with partner apps while users also get to use the Community feature of the Fitbit app to share and receive fitness inspiration.

The scale has been launched in two shades – white and black. It is available for pre-order and is priced at Rs 4,999. It will be available for buying from September 2019 across leading offline retail stores, Amazon and Flipkart.
